KVS Eligibility 2025, Age Limit and Qualification for TGT, PRT, PGT and Other Posts

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is going to conduct the KVS recruitment process for 9126 vacancies for Principal, TGT, PGT, PRT, Vice Principal, and other non-teaching posts. To be eligible to apply for the recruitment, candidates must meet the KVS Eligibility criteria for the year 2025. The main eligibility requirements are: candidates must have completed their post-graduation for PGT, Bachelor’s degree for TGT, and must be between 30 to 50 years (different for posts). KVS Age Limit 2025 (as on 04/12/2025)

The maximum age limit is different from one another depending upon post they have applied for. Also, there is a relaxation for the candidates for different categories as per the government norms. The age relaxation can range from 5 to 15 years as per the category, such as SC/ST, OBC, PwD, etc.

KVS Educational Qualification 2025 (as on 04/12/2025)

The educational qualifications for PGT, TGT, PRT, and Principal have been summarised below. Candidates can check all the qualifications for their concerned subjects before applying for the KVS Exam. If candidates do not meet these qualifications, they will be disqualified at the time of document verification

KVS Assistant Commissioner Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have completed Ma aster’s Degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks
  • B.Ed. from NCTE Recognized Institute/University with atleast 50% marks (OR)
  • 3 years Integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. from NCTE Recognized Institute/University with atleast
    50% marks
  • Working as Principal in the Pay Level 12 (Rs.78800 to Rs.209200) for at least 03 years in Central/State/Autonomous Organizations of Central Govt./State Govt.
  • Knowledge of computer applications
  • Working knowledge of Hindi and English

KVS Principal Qualification 2025

  • Must have completed a Master’s Degree with at least 50% marks from a recognized institution/University
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) with at least 50% marks from a NCTE-recognized
    Institution/University. (OR)
  • Three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. from NCTE-recognized institution/University with at least 50% marks (OR)
  • Four-year Integrated Degree with at least 50% marks, including B.Ed. component from an NCTE-recognized institution/University (50% marks)
  • Working as Principal in Pay Level-12 (Rs. 78800-209200) in the Pay Matrix in Central/State Govt./Autonomous organizations of Central/State Govt. (OR)
  • Working as a PGT or Lecturer in the Central/ State Govt./ Autonomous organizations of Central/ State Govt. in the Pay Level 8 ( Rs. 47600 to Rs. 151100) for at least 06 years

KVS PGT Qualification 2025

“PGT” stands for Post Graduate Teachers who have completed their postgraduate studies and are qualified to teach classes 11th and 12th.

  • Integrated Post Graduate Course from an NCTE-recognized institution/University, in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate including B.Ed. component (OR)
  • Master Degree from a recognized institution/University with at least 50% marks in aggregate in
    the concerned subject (AND)
  • B.Ed. Degree from an NCTE-recognized institution/University with atleast 50% marks (OR)
  • Three years Integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. from NCTE recognized Institution/University with atleast 50% marks (OR)
  • Four-year Integrated Degree with at least 50% marks from an NCTE-recognized institution/ University, including B.Ed. component
  • Proficiency to teach in Hindi and English medium.

PGT (Biology) Botany/Zoology/Life Science/Bio Sciences/Genetics/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Plant Physiology, provided they have studied Botany and Zoology at graduation.
PGT (Geography) Geography
PGT (Bio-Technology) Essential:

  • At least 50% marks in aggregate in any of the following: Master’s Degree in Biotechnology/Genetics/Microbiology/Life Science/Bioscience/Biochemistry
  • Proficiency in teaching Hindi and English.
PGT (Computer Science)
  • M.Sc. (Computer Science/IT) / MCA from a recognized institution/University with at least 50% marks (OR)
  • M.E. or M. Tech. (Computer Science/IT) from recognized
    institution/University with at least 50% marks.
  • B.Ed. Degree from NCTE recognized Institution/University with at least 50% marks (OR)
  • Three years integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. from NCTE recognized
    Institution/University with at least 50% marks (OR)
  • Four-year integrated degree with at least 50% marks from an NCTE-recognized institution/University, including B.Ed. component.
PGT (Modern Indian Language)
  • Integrated Post Graduate course in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks, including B.Ed. component (OR)
  • Master’s Degree from a recognized Institution/University with at least 50% marks in aggregate in the Modern Indian Language concerned (AND)
  • B.Ed. Degree from an NCTE-recognized Institution/University with at least 50% marks (OR)
  • Three years integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed. from NCTE-recognized
    Institution/University with at least 50% marks (OR)
  • Four-year integrated degree with at least 50% marks from an NCTE-recognized institution/University, including B.Ed. component

KVS TGT Qualification 2025

To become a Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), candidates are required to meet certain educational qualifications, which are mentioned below in the table.

  • Four-year integrated degree course with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject(s) as well as in the aggregate, including B.Ed.
    component. (OR)
  • Bachelor’s/Honours Degree from a recognized institution/University with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject, a combination of subjects, as well as in the aggregate
  • B.Ed. Degree from an NCTE-recognized institution/University with atleast 50% marks OR Three years
  • Graduation in the concerned subject with at least 50% marks and a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education) (AND)
  • Post-Graduation in the concerned subject / any specialization in the concerned subject with a minimum of 55% marks

TGT(Hindi) Studied Hindi as a subject in all three years of their bachelor’s degree.
TGT(English) Studied English as a subject in all three years of their bachelor’s degree.
TGT(Sanskrit) Studied Sanskrit as a subject in all three years of their bachelor’s degree.
TGT(P & HE) Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or an equivalent qualification.
TGT(AE) Five-year recognized diploma in drawing and painting, sculpture, or Graphic Art.
TGT(Science) Studied Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry in their bachelor’s degree.
TGT(SST) Studied any two of the following subjects: History, Geography, Economics, and Political Science. One of the two subjects must be either History or Geography.
TGT(Maths) Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with any of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Computer Science, or Statistics.
TGT (Computer
Science)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Application (BCA) with at least 50%
    marks (OR)
  • Graduation in Computer Science/IT (OR)
  • BE/B.Tech. (Computer Science/Information Technology) with at least
    50% marks (OR)
  • Three years integrated B.Ed. – M.Ed. from a NCTE-recognized institution/ University with at least 50% marks (OR)
  • Four-year integrated degree with at least 50% marks from an NCTE-recognized institution/University, including B.Ed. component.
TGT (Music)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music/Performing Arts with at least 50% marks in the concerned subject and also in aggregate, provided that the music subject is studied in all the years of the degree as the main subject.
    (AND)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education from an NCTE-recognized institution/ University with at least 50% marks.
TGT (Art Education)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Drawing and Painting/Sculpture/Graphic Art/ Fine Arts from a recognized institution/University with at least 50% marks, provided that the candidates have studied Drawing and Painting as the main subject in all the years of graduation
  • B.Ed degree from an NCTE-recognized institution/University with at least 50% marks
Librarian
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from a recognized Institution/ University with at least 50% marks (OR)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science with at least 50% marks (AND)
  • Knowledge of Computer Applications
  • Working knowledge of Hindi and English
  • Desirable: Experience of working in a residential school for NVS

KVS PRT Qualification 2025

A PRT refers to the Primary Teacher who specializes in teaching students studying in classes one to five. These teachers lay the foundation for the students by teaching basic subjects like Maths, Language, Science and and use various teaching methods to make learning easy. Below, we have provided the eligibility criteria for primary teachers (PRT)

  • Senior Secondary/Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) with at least 50% marks and 2-
    year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) from recognized Institute/Board (OR)
  • Senior Secondary/Higher Secondary/Intermediate (10+2) with at least 50% marks and 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B. El. Ed.) from recognized Institute/Board (OR)
  • Senior Secondary/Higher Secondary/Intermediate/Class-XII with at least 50% marks and
    2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) from Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) (AND)
  • Qualified in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (Paper-I) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) (AND)
  •  Proficiency to teach through Hindi & English medium

KVS Special Educator Qualification 2025

  • Graduation Degree from a recognized institution/University with minimum 50% Marks 2. Any of the following from a recognized institution/University: (AND)
  • Qualified in Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) (Paper – II) (AND)
  • B. Ed. (Special Education) with atleast 50% marks (OR)
  • B. Ed. (General) with atleast 50% marks along with a one-year Diploma in Special Education (OR)
  • B. Ed. (General) with atleast 50% marks along two a two-year Diploma in Special Education; (OR)
  • B. Ed. (General) with atleast 50% marks along with Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Special Education (PGPD) (OR)
  • B. Ed. Special Education with atleast 50% marks and Post Graduate Professional Certificate in Special Education (PGPC) (OR)
  • PG Diploma in Special Education (Mental Retardation) (OR)
  • PG Diploma in Special Education (Multiple Disability: Physical and Neurological) (OR)
  • Any other equivalent qualification approved by RCI

KVS Assistant Engineer Qualification 2025

  • Graduated in Civil/Electrical Engineering from a recognized university/Institute
  • 2 years of experience in design and engineering in the concerned branch of the Government Department./ Organization /Institute.

KVS Assistant Section Officer Qualification 2025

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university/Institute
  • Working as UDC/SSA or equivalent on a regular basis for a minimum of 3 years in Level 4 (Rs. 25500- Rs. 81100/) in Central Govt./Autonomous Bodies of Central Govt
  • Knowledge of Computer Applications
  • Working knowledge of Hindi and English

KVS Junior Translator Qualification 2025

  • Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level (OR)
  • Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level (OR)
  • Master’s degree from in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level; Vice-Versa (AND)
  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice-versa (OR)
  • Two years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in a Central or State Government office, including Government of India Undertaking.

KVS Senior Secretariat Assistant Qualification 2025

  •  Bachelor’s degree from recognized university/Institute or equivalent
  • Working as JSA/LDC or equivalent on regular basis for minimum 3 years in Level 2 (Rs.19900-63200/-) in Central Govt./Autonomous bodies of Central Govt
  • Knowledge of Computer Applications
  • Working knowledge of Hindi and English

KVS Senior Stenographer Grade I Qualification 2025

  • Graduated from a recognized university/Institute
  • Shorthand Speed of 100 w.p.m. in English/ Hindi Shorthand and Typing Speed of 45
    w.p.m. in English/ Hindi Typing
  • Working as Stenographer Gr II on regular basis for 05 years in the Central/State Govt./Autonomous bodies of Central /State Govt. in Pay Level 4
  • Knowledge of Computer Applications
  • Working knowledge of Hindi and English

KVS Senior Junior Secretariat Assistant Qualification 2025

  • Class XII pass or equivalent qualification from a recognized board or university (AND)
  • A typing speed of 35 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi on the computer

KVS Senior Lab Attendant Qualification 2025

  • 10th Class pass with a certificate / Diploma in Laboratory Technique (OR)
  • 12th Class with Science stream from a recognized Board / University

KVS Multi-Tasking Staff Qualification 2025

  • Candidates must have passed Class X from a recognized board
