SBI PO 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, every candidate must verify that they meet both the educational qualification and age limit requirements, which we discuss below.

Educational Qualification (as on 30/09/2026)

  • The candidate must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised university.
  • Those who are in the Final year/Semester of their Graduation can apply (but on the day of the interview must provide proof of their completed graduation)
  • Candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate must ensure that the date of passing the IDD on or before 30.09.2026.
  • Candidates with a Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant etc. certification may also apply.

Age Limit (as on 01/04/2026)

Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of the cut-off date, which will be mentioned in the official notification.

SBI PO Biometric Verification 

To ensure an error-free and secure selection procedure for SBI PO 2026, the bank may digitally capture the thumb impression of the candidate. This is done to verify the genuineness of the candidates. SBI PO 2026 Selection Process

The SBI PO recruitment exam is the premier among the public-sector bank exams in India. It is considered a little more difficult compared to the bank entrance exams conducted by IBPS. The recruitment process for probationary officers at SBI consists of 3 stages:

  1. Phase 1 – Preliminary Examination (Objective, Online)
  2. Phase 2 – Main Examination (Objective + Descriptive, Online)
  3. Phase 3 – Group Discussion (GD) + Personal Interview

The final merit list is based on the combined score of the mains exam and the interview. The prelims exam is qualifying in nature.

SBI PO 2026 Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The SBI PO selection process consists of 3 stages. The written examinations are conducted online, followed by an interview round. The structure of exams is as follows:

Phase-1: SBI PO Preliminary Examination

This is an online examination where the candidates must solve the question paper in one 1 hour for 100 marks. A negative marking of ΒΌ marks for each incorrect answer will be applicable. The test consists of 3 sections. Candidates must know that the sectional cut-off in the preliminary exam has been removed, and the overall score of all the sections will be considered for selection to the next round. SBI PO 2026 Salary Structure

As per the notification, the starting basic pay of a Probationary Officer (PO) is Rs 48,480/- (with 4 advance increments) in the scale of 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale-I.

The official will also be eligible for D.A, H.R.A/ Lease rental, C.C.A, Medical and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time. The approximate CTC at the initial scale of the Mumbai Centre is Rs. 21.97 Lacs.

πŸ’‘ Service Bond: Selected candidates must execute a bond of Rs. 2 lakh to serve SBI for a minimum of 3 years from the date of joining. This is a standard clause for all PO candidates.

While filling out the online application form, applicants are required to enter their preferred exam centres for SBI PO 2026 based on their convenience. However, the Bank may allot an exam centre other than the choices made by a candidate if there is non-availability of seats at the preferred venues.
