The IBPS PO Exam is conducted every year by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to select eligible candidates for the post of probationary officers in different public sector banks in India. The IBPS PO exam has been conducted every year since 2011, and in 2026, this is the 16th edition. IBPS CRP PO/MT CRP-XVI is for the selection of candidates for 6715 vacancies across 11 public sector banks. IBPS PO Prelims, Mains, and Interview will be the three stages of the selection process to recruit candidates for probationary officer vacancies.

The total number of vacancies for IBPS PO 2026 has been announced along with the official IBPS PO notification 2026 PDF. This year, IBPS released 6715 vacancies for probationary officer/management trainee posts, which have been shared here. The maximum number of vacancies was announced for Bank of Baroda, Bank of Maharashtra, and Canara Bank.

The vacancies of 3 banks are still not reported; therefore, there are chances the total vacancy can be increased.

IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2026

The eligibility criteria required for the IBPS PO 2026 Exam in terms of educational degree, computer literacy, language proficiency, and age limit have been discussed below- 

IBPS PO Educational Qualification (as on 21/07/2026)

Graduation Degree: The eligibility criteria for the IBPS CRP exam are as basic as a graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India. Any candidate with an equivalent qualification recognised by the central government is also eligible to apply for this exam.

The candidates must have a valid mark sheet/degree certificate certifying that they are a graduate on the day they register for this exam, and it must indicate the percentage of marks obtained at graduation while registering for the IBPS Bank-PO examination.

Computer Literacy: Working knowledge of computer systems is necessary for the job as well as to give the IBPS PO exam which is conducted in online mode.

Nationality / Citizenship of Applicants

A candidate applying for the IBPS CRP/Bank PO Examination must be one of the following:

1. Citizen of India

2. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan

3. Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement

4. Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire,Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India

Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India in their favour.

IBPS PO Age Limit (as on 01/07/2026)

Any candidate applying for the IBPS PO examination must be at least 20 years old and at most 30 years old at the time of registration. A candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.07.1996 and not later than 01.07.2006 (both dates inclusive). There is no specific restriction on the number of times you can appear for the IBPS PO Exam, provided you meet the eligibility criteria, particularly the age requirement. This means you can take the exam multiple times until you reach the upper age limit.

All eligible and interested candidates are required to register online for the recruitment process on the official IBPS website, @ibps.in. Upon the submission of the duly filled application form with the required fee, uploading of the signature, photographs, IBPS PO handwritten declaration, and documents, the application process is said to be completed. The 3-tiered selection process consists of preliminary and main exams, which will be conducted online, followed by interviews. IBPS PO Recruitment 2026

Probationary Officers (PO) and Management Trainees (MT) are recruited every year through a Common Recruitment Process (CRP), commonly known as the IBPS PO exam. The CRP was started in 2011 and is being conducted for the 15th time this year hence is officially called IBPS PO /MT CRP XVI 2026. The IBPS PO selection process consists of 3 phases (preliminary, mains and interview) and the candidate must qualify each of them to proceed to the next phase. Mentioned below are the important steps of the IBPS PO Recruitment Process:

• Online Preliminary Examination

An adequate number of candidates in each category are shortlisted by IBPS depending upon requirements for Online Main Examination

• Online Mains Examination

• Interview

The interview will be conducted by the Participating Organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS

• Final Result

IBPS PO 2026 Exam Pattern

IBPS introduced separate sectional timings for each section in the preliminary exam. The IBPS PO exam (CRP XIII) for hiring candidates will be based on an online written exam in two parts: Tier 1 or IBPS Preliminary Exam and Tier 2 or IBPS Mains Exam. This examination is followed by a face-to-face interview process.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The IBPS PO preliminary examination has a duration of 20 minutes for each section, which will be conducted in online mode. It consists of 3 sections with a total of 100 questions and a maximum score of 100 marks. There is a negative marking in the IBPS PO pre-exam and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates must clear the cut-off in all 3 sections to qualify for the IBPS PO Main exam. The section-wise details are given below:

IBPS PO Interview

The candidates who have qualified for the mains exam are called for a face-to-face interview which carries a maximum of 100 marks. The minimum qualifying mark in the interview is 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).

The interview round is generally 15-20 minutes long, where a panel of bank officials ask questions to the candidates about themselves, banking sector, current affairs, general awareness, etc. The candidates must be well-dressed, confident and carry all required documents to the interview.

The final merit list is prepared based on marks obtained in the main examination and interview. The final score is calculated by IBPS with weightage of marks given to the main examination and interview in the ratio of 80:20, respectively.

Final Score Calculation for IBPS PO Exam

The final score for the IBPS PO exam is calculated keeping the following points in mind:

• Marks obtained in the Preliminary Exam (Tier-1) will not be considered in the final score and are only for qualifying to Mains Exam (Tier-2).

• Candidates must qualify for Phase-2 and Interview separately to be eligible for final merit.

• The weightage (ratio) of IBPS PO Main exam and interview for the final merit list will be 80:20 respectively.

• The aggregate score out of 100 is used for the final merit list for each category. Candidates with top merit rank in each category are finally selected.

IBPS PO Exam Centre

The IBPS PO exam is conducted online at numerous centres all over India and the candidate can mention their preferences at the time of filling in the online application. However, if there is a non-availability of seats at preferred venues, IBPS may allot an exam centre other than the choices made by a candidate from IBPS PO Exam Centre List 2026.
