First held in 2011, 2026 marks the 16th edition of this exam. Latest Update: The application window is now closed and around 11 lakh applications are recieved for 7365 Probationary Officer (PO) posts. Now, the prelims exam will be conducted on 22nd and 23rd August 2026 across various exam centres in the country. 

IBPS PO 2026- Exam Summary

IBPS conducts the Common Recruitment Process (CRP) for recruiting probationary officers in 11 participating banks and accepts online applications through its official website www.ibps.in.

IBPS PO Exam Date 2026 Out 

As the application process is now over, more than 11 lakh candidates have submitted their applications. As the number of candidates is more, the prelims exam is scheduled for 2 days (22nd and 23rd August 2026) and in total 8 shifts. The allotted exam centre details will be informed through call letters.

IBPS has announced 7365 vacancies for Probationary Officer/Management Trainee posts, with the largest shares going to Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Bank of Maharashtra.

The vacancies of 2 banks (UCO Bank, Union Bank of India) are still not reported; the total vacancy count may increase once these are added.

IBPS PO Recruitment 2026

Probationary Officers (PO) and Management Trainees (MT) are recruited every year through a Common Recruitment Process (CRP), commonly known as the IBPS PO exam. The CRP was started in 2011 and is being conducted for the 15th time this year hence is officially called IBPS PO /MT CRP XVI 2026. The IBPS PO selection process consists of 3 phases (preliminary, mains and interview) and the candidate must qualify each of them to proceed to the next phase. Mentioned below are the important steps of the IBPS PO Recruitment Process:

• Online Preliminary Examination

An adequate number of candidates in each category are shortlisted by IBPS depending upon requirements for Online Main Examination

• Online Mains Examination

Candidates must qualify the sectional as well as an overall cutoff in the main exam to be eligible for an interview.

• Interview

The interview will be conducted by the Participating Organizations and coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS

• Final Result

The Final result is declared based on candidates' combined performance in IBPS PO Mains and Interview Rounds.

• Provisional Allotment

The provisional allotment of the qualified candidate is released on the official website. The IBPS Banks are allotted based on candidates' preferences which are made at the time of online application.

What is IBPS PO 2026 Exam Pattern & Syllabus?

The IBPS PO preliminary consists of 3 sections with a total of 100 questions and a maximum score of 100 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria 2026

The eligibility criteria required for the IBPS PO 2026 Exam in terms of educational degree, computer literacy, language proficiency, and age limit have been discussed below- 

Educational Qualification (as on 21/07/2026)

A graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India is required, along with working knowledge of computer systems since the exam is conducted online. Candidates must hold a valid mark sheet/degree certificate at the time of registration.

Candidates must have a valid mark sheet/degree certificate certifying that they are a graduate on the date they register for this exam and it must show the percentage of marks obtained at graduation when registering for the IBPS Bank-PO examination.

Computer Literacy: For the job as well as for giving the IBPS PO exam which is conducted in online mode, knowledge of computer systems is required.

Nationality / Citizenship of Applicants

A candidate applying for the IBPS CRP/Bank PO Examination must be one of the following:

1. A citizen of India
2. A subject of Nepal or Bhutan
3. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement
4. A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or the East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, or Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India

Age Limit (as on 01/07/2026)

Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years old; born not earlier than 02.07.1996 and not later than 01.07.2006.

There is no restriction on the number of attempts, provided candidates meet the age eligibility. This means you can take the exam multiple times until you reach the upper age limit.

The initial in-hand salary of an IBPS Probationary Officer is Rs. 74,000 to 76,000, including dearness and special allowances. The basic pay scale is Rs. 48,480-2000/7-62,480-2340/2-67,160-2680/7-85,920.

IBPS PO Exam Centre

The IBPS PO exam is conducted online at numerous centres across India; candidates mention their preferences at the time of application. IBPS is the sole authority for adding, removing, or reallotting exam centres.

IBPS PO 2026 Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 850 for General/OBC/EWS candidates and Rs. 175 for SC/ST/PWD candidates (inclusive of GST). Fee/intimation charges, once paid, are non-refundable.
