The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is held responsible for conducting the UPSC EPFO Exam for the posts of Enforcement Officer (EO)/ Accounts Officer (AO) and Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC). The candidates will be selected through a 2-stage recruitment process of a Written Test and an Interview.

UPSC EPFO Vacancy 2026

The total vacancies for Enforcement Officer (EO)/ Accounts Officer (AO) and Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) are 391. The confirmed vacancies will be released along with the release of the UPSC EPFO Notification 2026. This time, 311 vacancies are announced for EO/AO and 80 vacancies for APFC posts. 

UPSC EPFO 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification and age limit to apply for the vacancies. The Eligibility Criteria for UPSC EPFO Recruitment 2026 are as follows:

Nationality

The interested candidate must be a citizen of India to be eligible for this post. If not, the candidate can be still considered eligible if he/she is either:

1. a subject of Nepal/Bhutan
2. a Tibetan refugee settled permanently in India (since 1962).
3. a person of Indian origin settled permanently in India from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, and other East African countries.

Education Qualification

Education Qualification for EO/AO posts- A bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognised university

Education Qualification for APFC posts-

Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree (Graduation) in Any Stream from any recognised university in India will be eligible for this post.

Essential: Degree from a recognised University or equivalent
Desirable: Diploma in Company Law/Labour Laws/Public Administration

Age Limit 

The upper Age Limit For UPSC EPFO Recruitment for EO/AO posts is 30 years and for APFC, the upper age limit is 35 years

UPSC EPFO 2026 Selection Process

The UPSC EPFO APFC selection process comprises two main stages: a written examination (Recruitment Test), followed by an interview

Stage 1- Recruitment Test

• Mode: Offline
• Type of Questions: Objective-type test (Multiple Choice Questions).
• Duration: 2 hours
• Marks: 300 marks
• No. of Questions: 120, with each question of 2.5 marks.
• Negative Marking: A penalty of 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
• Language: The test is bilingual (Hindi and English), except for the General English section.

Stage 2- Interview/Personality Test

• Total Marks: 100 marks, which contribute 25% to the final selection.
• Qualifying Marks: Minimum qualifying marks are different category-wise: 50 for General/EWS, 45 for OBC, and 40 for SC/ST/PH.
• Motive: To analyse the candidate's personality and suitability to the post.

UPSC EPFO 2026 Exam Pattern

The selection process under UPSC EPFO 2026 requires qualification through a pen & paper-based Recruitment Test (RT). The test will be two hours in duration, all the questions carry equal marks.

The Recruitment Test (RT) will be an Offline Exam (Pen & Paper Based) consisting of Objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) followed by an Interview round:

Note-

1. The exam questions will be in both Hindi and English.
2. There will be objective-type questions with multiple-choice answers. The medium of the test will be both Hindi and English.
3. There is a negative marking of one-third of the marks assigned to each question.
4. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question.
5. PwD candidates shall be allowed compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour in the RT and facility of a Scribe.

UPSC EPFO Exam Analysis

Candidates must go through the previous year's exam analysis as it helps to understand the exam pattern and difficulty level of questions that could be asked in the upcoming exam. Last time, the exam was held in 2023 and the important points of the exam. 

UPSC EPFO EO/AO Previous Exam: The overall difficulty level was from moderate to difficult, but some questions were of difficult level. Most of the questions were based on static concepts. Most questions were lengthy and time-consuming, and only a few of them were of one-liners.

UPSC EPFO APFC Exam Analysis: The difficulty level of the overall exam varied from moderate to difficult. There was a mix of questions based on factual knowledge, conceptual understanding, and analytical skills. The exam included one-liners, multiple statements, and a match-the-column. 60% of the paper was lengthy and consumed maximum time, due to which candidates could not attempt the complete exam. 

UPSC EPFO 2026 Salary

UPSC offers handsome salaries to the candidates shortlisted for the officer posts. The Payscale of EPFO Officer is at Level 8 in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC. This will imply that the salary range will be Rs 43,600 to 55,200. The Pay scale thus becomes Rs 9300-34800. UPSC also offers other allowances and benefits to the candidates selected.

UPSC EPFO 2026 Admit Card

The officials will release the UPSC EPFO Admit Card/Call Letter for each stage separately on its official website www.upsc.gov.in for the candidates eligible to appear in the particular stage. The admit cards will be released through online mode only and the candidates will not be sent UPSC EPFO Admit Card through any other means/mode.

UPSC EPFO 2026 Result

UPSC EPFO Enforcement Officer Result PDF will be made available on the official website of the Union Public Service Commission at www.upsc.gov.in or the candidates can directly download the result pdf from this article once released. The candidates shortlisted after qualifying for the recruitment test will be called for the Interview round upon which final selection depends. The final result will be prepared on basis of marks scored in the Recruitment Test & Interview with a weightage of 75:25 respectively.
