UPSC EPFO EO/AO Exam 2026- Highlights

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is held responsible for conducting the UPSC EPFO Exam for the posts of Enforcement Officer (EO)/Accounts Officer (AO). The candidates will be selected through a 2-stage recruitment process of a written test and an interview.

The number of vacancies for Enforcement Officer (EO) and Accounts Officer (AO) will be announced shortly. Previously, 311 vacancies were announced through an RTI reply, which has now been withdrawn. 

UPSC EPFO EO/AO 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification and age limit to apply for the vacancies. The Eligibility Criteria for UPSC EPFO Recruitment 2026 are as follows:

Nationality

The interested candidate must be a citizen of India to be eligible for this post. If not, the candidate can be still considered eligible if he/she is either:

1. a subject of Nepal/Bhutan
2. a Tibetan refugee settled permanently in India (since 1962).
3. a person of Indian origin settled permanently in India from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, and other East African countries.

Education Qualification

Education Qualification for EO/AO posts- A bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognised university

Essential: Degree from a recognised University or equivalent
Desirable: Diploma in Company Law/Labour Laws/Public Administration

Age Limit 

The upper Age Limit For UPSC EPFO Recruitment for EO/AO posts is 30 years.

UPSC EPFO EO/AO 2026 Selection Process

The UPSC EPFO EO/AO selection process comprises two main stages: a written examination (Recruitment Test), followed by an interview

Stage 1- Recruitment Test

• Mode: Offline
• Type of Questions: Objective-type test (Multiple Choice Questions).
• Duration: 2 hours
• Marks: 300 marks
• No. of Questions: 120, with each question of 2.5 marks.
• Negative Marking: A penalty of 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
• Language: The test is bilingual (Hindi and English), except for the General English section.

Stage 2- Interview/Personality Test

• Total Marks: 100 marks, which contribute 25% to the final selection.
• Qualifying Marks: Minimum qualifying marks vary by category: 50 for General/EWS, 45 for OBC, and 40 for SC/ST/PH.
• Motive: To analyse the candidate's personality and suitability for the post.

UPSC EPFO EO/AO 2026 Salary

UPSC offers handsome salaries to the candidates shortlisted for the officer posts. The Payscale of EPFO Officer is at Level 8 in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC. This will imply that the salary range will be Rs 43,600 to 55,200. The Pay scale thus becomes Rs 9300-34800. UPSC also offers other allowances and benefits to the candidates selected.
