The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced 80 vacancies for the post of Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) in the Employees' & Provident Fund Organisation. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications through online mode before 11th September 2026.

Eligible candidates applying for the UPSC EPFO APFC Recruitment 2026 must appear for a two-stage selection process that includes a written exam and an interview/personality test. A final merit list will be prepared based on the combined performance of the candidates in both the written exam and the interview, with a weightage of 75:25, respectively.

• The candidate must be a citizen of India. or
• (i) A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
  (ii) A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  (iii) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specific countries (like Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, East African countries, etc.) with the intention of permanently settling in India.

• Essential: A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university or equivalent.
• Desirable: A diploma in Company Law/Labour Laws/Public Administration.

1. Click the link for the UPSC APFC Online Application Form.
2. As the new tab opens, click “Apply Now”.
3. On the next page, check for the declaration at the bottom of the page, “Yes, I agree".

The selection process for the Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner post comprises two main stages: 

• Written Exam: This is the first stage, conducted offline as a pen-and-paper-based exam consisting of objective multiple-choice questions.
• Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who clear the Recruitment Test are called for the interview stage.

UPSC APFC Exam Pattern 2026 

The Recruitment Test (RT) will be an offline exam (pen-and-paper-based) consisting of objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

1. The exam questions will be in both Hindi and English.
2. There will be objective-type questions with multiple-choice answers. The medium of the test will be both Hindi and English.
3. There is a negative marking of one-third of the marks assigned to each question.
4. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question.
5. PwD candidates shall be allowed compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour in the RT and the facility of a scribe.

An Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) in the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) receives a basic monthly pay of Rs. 56,100 under Pay Level 10, after being recruited via the UPSC EPFO Exam. UPSC EPFO APFC Exam Analysis

Candidates must go through the previous year's exam analysis as it helps to understand the exam pattern and difficulty level of questions that could be asked in the upcoming exam. Last time, the exam was held in 2023 and the important points of the exam. 

The difficulty level of the overall exam varied from moderate to difficult. There was a mix of questions based on factual knowledge, conceptual understanding, and analytical skills. The exam included one-liners, multiple statements, and a match-the-column. 60% of the paper was lengthy and consumed maximum time, due to which candidates could not attempt the complete exam.
