UPSC EPFO APFC Selection Process 2026

The selection process for the Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner post comprises two main stages: 

  • Written Exam: This is the first stage, conducted offline as a pen-and-paper-based exam consisting of objective multiple-choice questions.
  • Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who clear the Recruitment Test are called for the interview stage.

UPSC APFC Exam Pattern 2026 

The Recruitment Test (RT) will be an offline exam (pen-and-paper-based) consisting of objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

  1. The exam questions will be in both Hindi and English.
  2. There will be objective-type questions with multiple-choice answers. The medium of the test will be both Hindi and English.
  3. There is a negative marking of one-third of the marks assigned to each question.
  4. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question.
  5. PwD candidates shall be allowed compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour in the RT and the facility of a scribe.

UPSC EPFO APFC Exam Analysis

Candidates must go through the previous year's exam analysis as it helps to understand the exam pattern and difficulty level of questions that could be asked in the upcoming exam. Last time, the exam was held in 2023 and the important points of the exam. 

The difficulty level of the overall exam varied from moderate to difficult. There was a mix of questions based on factual knowledge, conceptual understanding, and analytical skills. The exam included one-liners, multiple statements, and a match-the-column. 60% of the paper was lengthy and consumed maximum time, due to which candidates could not attempt the complete exam.
