Factors Affecting GATE Cut Off 2025

  1. Exam Difficulty: The complexity and difficulty level of the GATE exam plays a crucial role in setting the cutoff marks. In years where the exam is perceived to be tougher, the cutoffs might decrease, and vice versa.
  2. Number of Applicants: The number of candidates appearing for a particular discipline influences the cutoff marks. Higher competition often leads to higher cutoffs as institutes and organizations strive to select the best candidates.
  3. Seat Availability: The number of available seats in M.Tech programs or job vacancies in PSUs also impacts the GATE cutoff marks. Limited seats accompanied by high demand can result in elevated cutoffs.
  4. Previous Year Trends: Trends from previous years provide insights into the expected range of cutoffs for different disciplines.
  5. Reservation Norms: Reservation policies for different categories such as SC, ST, OBC, and EWS can affect the cutoff marks. Separate cutoffs are often set for reserved categories to ensure equitable representation.
