Factors Affecting GATE Cut Off 2025
- Exam Difficulty: The complexity and difficulty level of the GATE exam plays a crucial role in setting the cutoff marks. In years where the exam is perceived to be tougher, the cutoffs might decrease, and vice versa.
- Number of Applicants: The number of candidates appearing for a particular discipline influences the cutoff marks. Higher competition often leads to higher cutoffs as institutes and organizations strive to select the best candidates.
- Seat Availability: The number of available seats in M.Tech programs or job vacancies in PSUs also impacts the GATE cutoff marks. Limited seats accompanied by high demand can result in elevated cutoffs.
- Previous Year Trends: Trends from previous years provide insights into the expected range of cutoffs for different disciplines.
- Reservation Norms: Reservation policies for different categories such as SC, ST, OBC, and EWS can affect the cutoff marks. Separate cutoffs are often set for reserved categories to ensure equitable representation.
