Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has invited online application forms for the GATE Exam 2025 on 28th August 2025 at https://gate2026.iitg.ac.in/. GATE 2026 Registration

Candidates interested in applying for the GATE 2026 Exam must ensure they meet the GATE Eligibility Criteria 2025 in terms of educational qualification and age limit. The GATE 2026 Registration Form is accepted only through online mode. When submitting the application form, candidates must enter accurate details, upload the required documents, and pay the fee to successfully complete their application.

GATE Registration 2026- Important Dates

The GATE 2026 Registration Form process has started from 28th August 2025 onwards. Once the online link is active at https://gate2026.iitg.ac.in/, the candidates can fill out the forms till 28th September 2025. The GATE 2026 exam will be held on 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th February 2026.

GATE 2026 Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) has started on 28th August 2025 at the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Graduate candidates interested in applying for the GATE 2026 exam must ensure to fill out their registration form well before the last registration date.

Steps to Fill the GATE Registration 2025 Form

1.  Registration: The first step to apply for the GATE 2026 exam is registration. Candidates must provide their name, email ID, and contact number. After successful registration, a unique Enrollment ID and password will be generated.
2. Form Filling: Applicants need to log in to the GOAPS portal using their Enrollment ID to complete the GATE application form. They must enter details such as personal information, educational qualifications, and the subject in which they wish to appear.
3. Uploading of Documents: Candidates are required to upload a recent passport-size photograph and a scanned copy of their signature.
4. Payment of Registration Fee: To submit the application form, candidates must pay the GATE 2026 registration fee online using a credit card, debit card, or net banking. After a successful transaction, applicants should download and print the submitted GATE 2026 application form.

How to Apply For GATE 2026 Exam- 

1. Go to the official website of GATE 2026 at https://gate2026.iitg.ac.in/.
2. On the homepage, locate the “Application” section and click on the “Apply Online” link.
3. This redirects you to a new page. Here, click on the “Register Here” button available at the bottom of the page.
4. Enter your first name, middle name, and surname. Then proceed further.
5. Enter your personal information, including your email address, and contact number. Fill in your educational details, such as academic qualifications and institution names. Provide any other relevant information as requested.
6. On the next designated page, upload scanned copies of your required documents, including your photograph, signature, and educational certificates. Ensure the documents are clear and in the specified format.
7. Carefully review the entire registration form to ensure all details are accurate and complete. Once satisfied, click on the “Complete Registration” button.
8. Proceed to the next page, where you are directed to make the online payment of the applicable registration fees. Choose your preferred payment method and complete the transaction.
9. Upon successful payment, your GATE Registration 2025 complete. Now, you receive a confirmation message and a registration number for your reference.

GATE 2026 Application Fee

While completing the GATE 2026 Application process, candidates have to pay the application fee as per category through online mode. Here we have shared the category-wise GATE 2026 Application fees, which is a single test paper. Candidates opting for two papers would have to pay twice the below-mentioned fees.

Documents Required to fill GATE 2026 Online Form

Photograph Specifications

• A recent good quality colour photograph with a white background and the candidate’s face should cover 60-70% of the photograph’s area
• The candidate’s face not be covered with objects such as cloth, caps, hats, sunglasses, coloured glasses, etc., except for religious reasons.
• Photographs must be uploaded in JPG/JPEG Format with a resolution between 200 x 260 pixels and 530 x 690 pixels
• Candidate’s photo must be of 3.5 cm width × 4.5 cm height.
• The size of photo should be 5 KB to a maximum 1 MB

Signature Specifications

• Candidate’s signature must be in black or dark blue ink, covering a minimum of 70-80% of the image’s area
• The signature must be uploaded in JPG/JPEG Format
• The pixel resolution range of photo should be at least 250 × 80 pixels to a maximum of 580 × 180 pixels.
• The size of the signature must be between 1 cm width × 2.75 cm height and 1 cm width × 3.75 cm height, with a minimum size of 3 KB and a maximum size of 1 MB
• The candidate must ensure that the uploaded signature matches the signature at the time of examination, else he/she will be disqualified

Educational Documents 

• The educational certificate must be in PDF Format & file size should be between 10 KB and 300 KB.
• Aadhaar-UID, Aadhaar Virtual ID, Government ID, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID or Driving License are accepted as valid photo ID proof.
• The photo ID must clearly show the name, photo, ID number, and date of birth.
• Candidates must ensure that they provide a recent & government-authorised PwD category certificate.

GATE Subject Code

While filling out the GATE 2026 Registration Form, candidates have to select the subject paper code. As per the official GATE 2026 Information Brochure, candidates are allowed to choose a maximum of two subject papers from the list of 30 available options.

GATE 2026 will be conducted across 30 papers, including both full and sectional papers. For the GATE 2026 exam, the IIT Guwahati has also introduced a new sectional paper titled Energy Science (XE-1) under the Engineering Sciences (XE) category.
