The Staff Selection Commission is responsible for selecting eligible candidates for the Stenographer Grade C and D posts. The selection is made through a computer-based test and a skill test. SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2026

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2026

SSC Stenographer CBT Exam Pattern

The computer-based test for SSC Stenographer posts is conducted for a total of 200 marks and the question paper is set in bilingual language i.e. Hindi & English, except for Part III which is in the English language. Have a look at the detailed exam pattern before beginning the preparation for CBT. 

• +1 will be given for every correct answer.
• 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
• Candidates will be allotted a total of 120 minutes (2 hours) to complete their exam

SSC Stenographer CBE Minimum Qualifying Marks

Minimum qualifying marks in the SSC Stenographer Computer-Based Examination as mentioned in the notification pdf is as follows- 

(i) UR: 30%
(ii) OBC/EWS: 25%
(iii) All Other Categories: 20%

SSC Stenographer Skill Test 2026

Candidates who qualify for the CBT exam are shortlisted for the Skill Test in Stenography. The skill test includes a dictation test and a transcription test. Details for the skill test are mentioned here below.

Dictation

In the dictation test, candidates will be given a dictation for 10 minutes at a speed of 100 words per minute for Stenographer Grade C. Check the table below to get the details of the dictation test for Stenographer Grade D.

In this, candidates will be given a matter to be transcribed on a computer as per the time duration mentioned here.
