SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2025

The selection of candidates for SSC Stenographer Grade C and D  posts is based on a computer-based test followed by a skill test. The candidates who qualify for the computer-based examination of 200 marks get shortlisted for the Skill Test. Those candidates who pass both stages successfully are finally selected for the vacant posts.

SSC Stenographer CBT Exam Pattern

The computer-based test for SSC Stenographer posts is conducted for a total of 200 marks and the question paper is set in bilingual language i.e. Hindi & English, except for Part III which is in the English language. Have a look at the detailed exam pattern before beginning the preparation for CBT. 

  • +1 will be given for every correct answer.
  • 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

Minimum qualifying marks in the SSC Stenographer Computer-Based Examination as mentioned in the notification pdf is as follows-

SSC Stenographer Skill Test 2025

Candidates who qualify for the CBT exam are shortlisted for the Skill Test in Stenography. The skill test includes a dictation test and a transcription test. Details for the skill test are mentioned here below.

Dictation

In the dictation test, candidates will be given a dictation for 10 minutes at a speed of 100 words per minute for Stenographer Grade C. Check the table below to get the details of the dictation test for Stenographer Grade D.
