The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced a total of 7934 vacancies for Junior Engineers (JE) posts. The candidates who are interested in the released vacancies need to be eligible for the posts. The RRB Eligibility Criteria 2024 is specified by the authorities, and the date of evaluation for candidates’ eligibility is 1st January 2025. If any candidate provides the wrong information about their eligibility in the application form then his/her application will be rejected. Candidates need to mention their eligibility supporting some necessary documents in the respective application form.
RRB JE Eligibility Criteria 2024
Candidates interested in appearing for the recruitment process for JE posts must thoroughly go through the RRB JE Notification 2024 pdf. The candidates selected for the released vacancies are based on 2 stage CBT exam followed by document verification, and medical examination. Only those fulfilling the RRB JE Eligibility Criteria 2024 will be allowed to appear for the selection process. A few factors that are taken into consideration while determining the candidate’s eligibility for Junior Engineer posts in Railway are mentioned below:-

RRB JE Age Limit 2024 (As on 01.01.25)
If you wish to become a Junior Engineer in the Railway sector, then the candidates must fall between 18 to 33 years of age as on 1st January 2025 as per the Normal course, and between 18 to 36 years as per the CEN course. Check out the maximum age limit for the CEN course from the table below.

RRB JE Age Relaxations
Candidates belonging to special reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC, and other categories are entitled to receive some years of age relaxations in the upper age limit. Have a look at the upper age limits for reserved categories from the table below.

Note:- Make sure to enter the same date of birth in the application form as mentioned on your SSLC/Matriculation or any other equivalent certificate.
RRB JE Educational Qualifications
While filling out the application form for RRB JE Vacancy 2024, candidates need to have completed some minimum educational qualifications as prescribed by the Railway Recruitment Board. The candidates must have completed an Engineering diploma/degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering/Production Engineering/Automobile, or any other relevant engineering discipline.
RRB JE Nationality
Apart from the candidate’s age and qualifications, the candidate’s citizenship/nationality is another parameter for evaluating the eligibility for Junior Engineer posts. candidate should be one of the following:
(i) an Indian citizen;
(ii) a citizen of Nepal;
(iii) a subject of Bhutan;
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who entered India before January 1, 1962, to settle there permanently; or
(v) an Indian national who has immigrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka; East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania; Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to settle in India permanently.
RRB JE Medical Standards
Candidates must be medically fit for RRB Junior Engineer posts as per the norms prescribed by official authorities. There are different vision standards specific to A-3, B-1, B-2, and C1 medical standards which are tabulated below.

Note:- If any candidate has undergone LASIK or any other surgery for correction of refractory error are not eligible to apply for Junior Engineer posts that require medical standards A-3.
