The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducts the recruitment process for eligible candidates for General, DEPR, and DSIM positions through the RBI Grade B Officer Examination. RBI Grade B Nationality 2025

The Reserve Bank of India has specified that candidates belonging to certain nationalities are only eligible to apply for General, DEPR, and DSIM Grade B posts. The eligibility requirements based on nationality are provided below.

  • should be a citizen of India
  • should be a subject of Nepal
  • should be a subject of Bhutan
  • The candidate must be a Tibetan refugee who entered India before January 1, 1962, and who intends to remain there permanently.
  • An individual of Indian origin who has moved to India to settle there permanently from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam, all of which are in East Africa (previously Tanganyika and Zanzibar).

RBI Grade B Age Limit 2025

Candidates who want to apply for various RBI Grade B posts must be at least 21 years of age and should not be more than 30 years old i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than July 02, 1995 and not later than July 01, 2004. If any candidate’s age does not fall within this age group, then he/she cannot apply forthe  respective posts.

Note:- The upper age limit for candidates having an M.Phil. degree is 32 years, and for those who have done their PhD, the upper age limit is 34 years

RBI Grade B Age Relaxations

Special reserved categories receive some years of age relaxations in upper age limit by government for the RBI Grade B Officer exam. Candidates who belong to scheduled caste or scheduled tribe categories get 5 years of age relaxations.

RBI Grade B Educational Qualification 2025

There are certain basic educational qualifications that candidates must fulfil before filling out the application form for different posts under RBI Grade B Officer. The educational qualifications for General, DSIM, and DEPR posts are different and specified here below.

DSIM A master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade overall across all semesters in any of the following fields: mathematical statistics, statistical economics, econometrics, statistics, and informatics from IIT Kharagpur; or applied statistics and informatics from IIT Bombay.
OR
One-year post-graduate diploma in Statistics or similar fields from a reputable institute, and a Master’s degree in Mathematics with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade overall across all semesters or years.
OR
The Indian Statistical Institute’s M. Stat. degree with a minimum of 55% overall across all semesters and years.
OR
Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur, and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years.
General Graduation in any discipline /Equivalent technical or professional qualification with a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) or Post-Graduation / Equivalent technical qualification with a minimum of 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD applicants) in aggregate of all semesters/years.
Note: Any such full-time course from a recognized University / Institute that is taken after Class XIIth and is at least 3 years duration/ candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognized by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination. Candidates who have passed the Final Examination for Membership in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India may also apply for the post.

A
ny such full-time course from a recognized University / Institute that is taken after graduation and is at least 2 years duration / recognized by the Government as equivalent to post-graduation will be eligible for admission to the examination.
DEPR A Master’s Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute.
OR
PGDM/ MBA Finance with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute.
OR
Master’s Degree in Economics in any of the sub-categories of economics i.e. agricultural/ business/ developmental/ applied, etc., with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute
And
Candidates having a Master’s Degree with Research/Teaching experience at a recognized Indian/Foreign University/ Institute will be eligible for relaxation in the upper age limit to the extent of many years of such experience subject to a maximum of three years. For experience, a probationary period will not be reckoned.

RBI Grade B: Number of Attempts

The number of attempts for the RBI Grade B exam varies depending on the candidate’s category:

  1. General/EWS Category: Candidates belonging to the General and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) categories are allowed a maximum of 6 attempts for the RBI Grade B Phase 1 exam.
  2. SC/ST/OBC/PwBD Categories: There is no restriction on the number of attempts for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backwards Classes (OBC), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories. The candidates can appear for the exam as many times as they wish, provided they meet the age criteria for their respective categories.
