KPSC KAS Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2026

The KPSC KAS 2026 Syllabus for the prelims examination is common for posts of Assistant Commissioner, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Assistant Labour Commissioner, and Tehsildar. KPSC KAS Selection Process 2026

For a career in Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS), the Karnataka Public Service Commission conducts the KPSC KAS Exam 2026 in three stages:

• Stage 1: The first stage is the Preliminary Exam: the preliminary exam will have 2 papers based on objective-type (MCQs) questions. 
• Stage 2: The second stage is the Mains, consisting of 7 papers. Only prelims-qualified candidates can appear for the mains exam stage.
• Stage 3: Candidates qualifying in the mains stage will appear for the final interview round of the KPSC KAS 2026.

KPSC KAS Prelims Syllabus 2026

KPSC KAS Prelims Exam Pattern

• Paper 1 and Paper 2 consist of 100 questions of 200 marks for each paper. 
• The time duration of each paper is 2 hours. 
• As per the rules, there will be 0.25 negative marks for every wrong answer. 

KPSC KAS Prelims Syllabus & Topics

Karnataka KAS Prelims Paper 1

Topics that are to be prepared by candidates for KPSC Karnataka Administrative Service Prelims Paper 1 are the Indian political system, Indian history and its aspects, current affairs based on national & international importance, etc.

• Current Affairs– National and International Importance
• Indian History– Broad understanding of Cultural, Social, Political, and Economic aspects, Special Emphasis on Karnataka State, Focus on the Indian National Movement.
• Indian and World Geography- Focus on Karnataka
• Polity and Indian Economy– Indian Political System, Economic Reforms, Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

Karnataka KAS Prelims Paper 2

KPSC KAS Paper 2 covers subjects such as General Studies (State Importance), General Science, and Tech. Environment and Ecology, General Mental Ability. 

• Current events (State)
• Important State Government schemes.
• General Science and Technology- Broad understanding as may be expected of a well-educated person, Contemporary issues/developments, and implications
• Environment and Ecology- Broad understanding of general issues on biodiversity, climate change, ecology, and health that do not require a subject specialization. 
• General Mental Ability- Basic numeracy, Data interpretation (data sufficiency, charts, tables, graphs, etc.), Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Comprehension. 

KPSC KAS Main Syllabus 2026

Candidates who qualify the upcoming preliminary examination will have to appear for the mains exam. KPSC KAS Mains Exam Pattern
