The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) will conduct a preliminary examination on 7th July 2024, this exam will be conducted to recruit candidates for various Group A & Group B posts. KPSC KAS Syllabus 2024 and Exam Pattern 2024

The Karnataka KAS Syllabus 2024 for prelims examination is common for posts of Assistant Commissioner, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Tehsildar. The exam conducting authority specifies syllabus for KPSC KAS examination. If the candidate gets selected as a KAS officer can later also be promoted to IAS Officer. 

KPSC KAS Selection Process 2024

For a career in Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) the Karnataka Public Service Commission conducts the KPSC KAS Exam 2024 in three stages:

• Stage 1: The first stage is the Preliminary Exam: the preliminary exam will have 2 papers based on objective type (MCQs) questions. 
• Stage 2: The second is the Mains consisting of 7 papers. Only prelims-qualified candidates can appear for mains exam stage.
• Stage 3: Candidates qualifying in the main stage will appear for the final interview round of the KPSC KAS 2024.

KPSC KAS Prelims Exam Pattern

The KPSC KAS prelims exam will include MCQ-based 100 questions. Know more details of the Karnataka KAS exam pattern here from points and table below.

• Paper 1 and Paper 2 consist of 100 questions of 200 marks for each paper. 
• The time duration of each paper is 2 hours. 
• As per rules, there will be 0.25 negative marks for every wrong answer. 

KPSC KAS Prelims Syllabus & Topics

Karnataka KAS Syllabus 2024 for prelims examination includes paper 1 and paper 2 in which different topics are to be covered by candidates to achieve a good score. Candidates need to focus on subjects like Indian history, general science, Indian economy, etc.

Karnataka KAS Prelims Paper 1

Topics that are to be prepared by candidates for KPSC Karnataka Administrative Service prelims paper 1 are the Indian political system, Indian history and its aspects, current affairs based on national & international importance etc.

• Current Affairs– National and International Importance
• Indian History– Broad understanding of Cultural, Social, Political, and Economic aspects, Special Emphasis on Karnataka State, Focus on the Indian National Movement.
• Indian and World Geography- Focus on Karnataka
• Polity and Indian Economy– Indian Political System, Economic Reforms, Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

Karnataka KAS Prelims Paper 2

KPSC KAS Paper 2 covers subjects such as General Studies (State Importance), General Science, and Tech. Environment and Ecology, General Mental Ability. 

• Current events (State)
• Important State Government schemes.
• General Science and Technology-Broad understanding as may be expected of a well-educated person, Contemporary issues/developments and implications
• Environment and Ecology- Broad understanding of general issues on biodiversity, climate change, ecology, and health that do not require a subject specialization. 
• General Mental Ability- Basic numeracy, Data interpretation (data sufficiency, charts, tables, graphs, etc.), Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Comprehension. 

KPSC KAS Main Syllabus 2024

Candidates who qualify upcoming prelims examination will have to appear for mains exam. To ace the exam with flying colors, candidates must know subject-wise topics they need to prepare along with exam duration which is specified in the KPSC KAS Syllabus 2024 for mains exam and its exam pattern.

KPSC KAS Mains Exam Pattern

Karnataka KAS mains examination will include different papers, out of which Kannada & English language papers will be conducted for a total of 150 marks in 2 hours (120 minutes) and are qualifying in nature. Detailed exam pattern for other papers are provided below.
