UPSC EPFO APFC vs EO/AO: Post-wise Group Classification and Grade Pay

EO/AO pay scale is around Rs. 90,880 per month as gross salary. APFC officers gross salary is Rs. 1,06,896. APFC is a Gazetted Group A post with higher responsibilities and salary, at Pay Level 10 with basic pay of Rs. 56,100. EO/AO is a gazetted post of Group B with pay level 8 and basic pay of Rs. 47,600. They are both selected by a similar examination.

The EPFO written exam for both EO/AO and APFC posts is offline, 120 questions for 300 marks and has the same overall exam pattern. The UPSC EPFO EO/AO syllabus has 9 subjects while the syllabus for APFC has 4 additional subjects which are post specific. The paper is objective type, of 2 hours duration, with 1/3rd negative marking. It is followed by an interview for shortlisted candidates. Written exam and interview are given a weightage of roughly 75:25 in the final merit.

Which Post Should You Choose?
