UPSC CAPF Notification 2026 Postponed, New Release Date Soon

The UPSC CAPF Notification 2026 has reportedly been postponed, creating uncertainty among thousands of aspirants who are preparing and planning to apply for the Assistant Commandant (AC) Examination 2026. Candidates who were expecting the notification release on 18th February 2026 (today), as per the usual annual calendar, are now advised to wait for the revised schedule, which is likely to be announced soon.

UPSC CAPF Notification 2026 Postponed

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the CAPF Assistant Commandant examination every year to recruit officers in various paramilitary forces. The release date for UPSC CAPF Notification 2026, as mentioned in the annual calendar, was 18th February 2026, but didn’t released as per the schedule.

However, on the official website, it has been notified that “The Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination, 2026, scheduled to be notified on 18.02.2026, has now been postponed due to administrative reasons and the same will be notified in due course”. 

What is UPSC CAPF AC Exam?

The CAPF Assistant Commandant exam is a prestigious national-level examination which is conducted annually to recruit Group A Gazetted Officers in the Central Armed Police Forces (India’s paramilitary forces), including:

• BSF (Border Security Force)
• CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force)
• CISF (Central Industrial Security Force)
• ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police)
• SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal)

Although the revised UPSC CAPF Notification release date has not been officially confirmed, it is expected that:

• New Notification Release – end of February or beginning of March
• Online Application Window – To begin soon after notification release
• Admit Cards- July 2026 (1st week)
• Written Exam Date – 19th July 2026

What is UPSC CAPF AC Eligibility?

Candidates must fulfill the conditions related to nationality, age limit, educational qualification, and physical standards.

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2026

• UPSC CAPF Exam consists of 02 papers. Paper 1 and Paper 2.
• Paper I will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) with a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for each wrong answer, and Paper II is in a descriptive format.
• Paper I is of 2 hours duration, and Paper II is of 3 hours duration
• Papers I & II will be in bilingual language & English, excluding the English paper
• Paper I is a qualifying stage. Only those candidates who qualify for the Paper 1 exam will be checked for the Paper 2 exam.
