To get selected as a Junior Administrative Assistant (JAA), candidates must have a clear understanding of the selection process. As, candidates will have to go through the three stages: Written Test, Skill Test, and an Interview. The written exam consists of four subjects: GK, English, Maths, and Assamese. The exam pattern for the Junior Administrative Assistant (JAA) is as follows:

Written Test

• Type: OMR-based objective questions with Multiple Choices
• Duration: 2 hours
• Total Marks: 120 marks
  (i) Subjects: General English- 50 marks
  General Knowledge (including Computer Knowledge)- 30 marks
  General Aptitude- 20 marks
  (ii) Assamese Language (Official Language of Assam): Marks: 20 marks
  Nature: Qualifying only
• Each question carries 1 mark
• Negative marking: 0.25 mark deducted for every wrong answer

Candidates in the ratio of 1:5 (5 times the number of posts in a district) from the rank-wise written test merit list will move to Stage 2.

Computer Skill Test

• Typing Test (20 Marks) will be conducted using typing application software
• Proficiency Test (15 Marks) on word processing and spreadsheet software will be held.

Candidates in the ratio of 1:3 (3 times the number of posts in a district) from the combined marks of Stage 1 and Stage 2 will be called for the next stage. After clearing this stage, an Interview of 20 marks will be conducted.
