The National Eligibility Entrance Test, Postgraduate (or NEET (PG)) is a qualifying and ranking examination in India, for students who wish to study various postgraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS) and diploma courses, in government or private medical colleges in the country. NEET PG Exam is conducted annually by NBE (National Board of Examination) for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses. The counselling and seat allotment is conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

NEET PG 2021 Notification

The Official Notification for NEET PG 2021 has already been released on 23rd February 2021. But due to Covid-19, the NEET PG 2021 Exam got postponed by Four complete months i.e. on a date after 31st August 2021. The specifications in tabular form are given below:

NEET PG 2021 Exam Postponed

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2021 has been postponed by at least four months, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.

The National Board of Examination (NBE) has postponed NEET PG 2021 which was previously scheduled for April 18, 2021, due to a steep surge in Covid 19 cases. However, revised exam dates will be announced after August 31 once the authority will review the situation.

NEET PG 2021 New Exam Date

The NEET PG 2021 Exam has been postponed due to Covid-19 as per the latest news updates. Earlier the NEET PG 2021 was to take place on 18th April 202. But, now the NEET PG 2021 will be conducted after the 31st of August 2021 when the date is announced. The new Exam Date for NEET PG 2021 had not yet been announced but is expected to be released only after 31st August after reviewing the Covid- 19 situation.

NEET PG 2021: Major Changes

Since the release of the official notification of NEET PG 2021, a number of major changes have been noticed. Given below is the detailed information regarding the major changes in NEET PG 2021:

  1. Hike in NEET PG 2021 application fee for all the student’s category wise: As per the official information brochure, the examination fee has hiked for all categories. The revised fee is given below:

  1. Increase in the number of NEET PG 2021 Exam Centres: The total number of NEET PG 2021 exam centres has been increased to 255 centres. Earlier the total number of centres was 165.
  2. Decrease in the number of questions in NEET PG 2021: In NEET PG 2021 Exam another major change that took place is that there is a reduction in the total number of questions asked. Earlier it was 300 questions but now in NEET PG 2021, it has been reduced to 200 questions only.
  3. Decrease in Total Marks in NEET PG 2021: A decrease in the number of questions in NEET PG 2021 has also affected the total marks. Earlier total marks in NEET PG Exam were 1200 which are now reduced to 800 marks in NEET PG 2021.

NEET PG 2021:Online Application Process

Application forms CANNOT be submitted offline / printed copy by post. Submission of the application form for appearing in the NEET-PG 2020 is to be undertaken online at the website following sequence shall be observed while filing the online application form:

Step 1:  Fill the user registration form to generate User ID/Application ID and password.

Step 2:  User ID and Password will be sent through SMS and Email.

Step 3:  Complete the application form and upload your Photograph, Scannedsignature, Thumb impression & Prescribed documents.

Step 4:   Choose your Test City and pay the Examination Fee.

Step 5:   Agree to the declaration and submit the Application.

Step 6:   Take a printout of the filled Application form with Transaction printed on it for records.

Fees shall neither be refunded nor carried forward if the application for NEET PG 2021 is rejected/candidature is found to be ineligible or candidate is unable to appear in the examination.

NEET PG 2021: Edit/ Correction Window

Candidates who have successfully submitted their application during the Application Submission window shall only be allowed to edit their applications from 19th March to 21st March 2021. No new application can be registered during the edit window. All editable fields in the application form shall be open for the candidate to make any corrections if so required. Details of the field which cannot be edited are mentioned below.

Information entered in the application form can be changed during the “Edit Window”.However, the following fields in the application form shall remain non-editable:

• Name of the Candidate

• Email ID

• Nationality

• Test City

If a candidate updates his/her category or PWD status during the edit window which requires him/her to make any payment of the difference in Examination Fee to the National Board of Examination the difference of examination fee needs to be deposited through demand draft drawn in favour of National Board of Examinations, payable at New Delhi before the date of issuance of admit cards.

No editing in the information provided shall be permissible in the application form, once the edit window is over.

NEET PG 2021 Exam Pattern

As per the NEET PG 2021 exam pattern, there will be 200 objective questions in the test. Earlier, a total of 300 questions were asked in the NEET PG exam. The duration of NEET PG 2021 is 3 hours and 30 minutes. As per the NEET PG exam pattern, the test will be conducted in a computer-based mode. The NEET PG 2021 has been postponed. The NEET PG exam will be conducted in the English language only.

NEET PG 2021: Admit Card

NEET PG 2021 Admit Cards have already been released but as the NEET PG 2021 has been postponed after 31st August so new Admit cards after making the changes will be released on a later date. But it is expected the new admit cards will be released in the 2nd week of August.

Candidates are required to download their admit card from the NBE website and affix firmly their latest passport size photograph in the space provided on the admit card. 

The photograph must meet the following specifications:

• Size of photograph: Minimum 35x45 mm (and not larger than the box printed on admit card for pasting the photograph) with at least 75% area on the photograph should be occupied with the face & head of the candidate.

• It should be a Colour photograph with white background

• The photograph needs to display a full front view of the face with a neutral expression. No Caps, Stethoscope, Goggles, Ornamentsto be worn.

• The photograph should not have reflection or shadow on the face with red eyes.

• The photograph needs to be printed on high-quality paper with at least 600 dpi Resolutions.

• The photograph must not have kinks, scratches and stains.

NEET PG 2021: Declaration of Result

The eligibility criteria for participation in counselling towards allotment of PG seats conducted by designated counselling authority shall be in accordance with the post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations (as per latest amendment) notified by the NMC/ the erstwhile MCI with prior approval of MoHFW, Govt. of India. The NEET PG 2021 Date for result declaration has not yet been announced.
