Kerala TET Notification 2026 Out for February Session, Registration From 26 Feb

The Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan (KPB) has released Kerala TET Notification 2026 for K-TET February 2026 at the official website www.ktet.kerala.gov.in. The KTET exam is held twice a year for candidates aspiring to become teachers in Kerala schools. Candidates can apply online for the Kerala TET Exam 2026 from 26th February 2026 onwards through the official website https://ktet.kerala.gov.in/.

Kerala TET February 2026 Exam Summary

The Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) is a state-level eligibility exam conducted by Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan to assess the aptitude and subject knowledge of candidates aspiring to become teachers in government and government-aided schools across Kerala. Clearing KTET is mandatory for teaching appointments and promotions, as mandated by the Supreme Court of India.

Kerala TET 2026 Categories

KTET is conducted in four categories, each targeting a different level of teaching:

Categories Details
Category I- Lower Primary (Classes 1 to 5) For candidates who wish to teach students at the primary school level.
Category II- Upper Primary (Classes 6 to 8) For candidates aspiring to teach at the upper primary level.
Category III – High School (Classes 9 and 10) For candidates looking to teach at the high school level.
Category IV – Specialist Teachers For language subject teachers (Hindi, Arabic, Urdu), Physical Education teachers, and other specialised teaching roles.

KTET Exam 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the KTET Exam 2026, candidates must ensure their eligibility in terms of educational qualification and age limit.

If candidates do not fulfil the eligibility parameters, their application will be rejected.

For Category 1 (Lower Primary Classes)

Candidates who are appearing for Kerala TET 2026 must be qualified in the following points:-

  • Must pass Higher Secondary/ Higher Secondary or equivalent at least with 45% and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations 2002 or
  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). or
  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

For Category 2 (Upper Primary Classes)

  • B.A/ B.Sc./ B.Com. and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/ Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by the Board of Examinations, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent. or
  • BA/ B.Sc. / B.Com with at least 45% marks and one-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard or
  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). or
  • Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 years BA/ B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed or B.Sc.Ed.

For Category 3 (High School Classes)

The test is for HSAs in: (i) Malayalam (ii) English (iii) Hindi (iv) Sanskrit (v) Tamil (vi) Kannada (vii) Arabic (viii) Urdu (ix) Social Science (x) Physical Science (xi) Natural Science and (xii) Mathematics

  • BA/ BSc/ B.Com with marks of at least 45% and a B.Ed. A degree in the subject concerned (from any of the universities in Kerala or from any other university recognised as equivalent)
  • For those who have MSc. Ed. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, A degree with not less than 50 per cent of the marks of one of the Regional Institutes of Education funded by NCERT will be eligible to apply for the subject matter concerned. For the subjects of Botany and Zoology, those with MSc. Ed., Ed. It is possible to apply for a Degree in Life Science with not less than 50% marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education.
  • Candidates from SC/ST and differently-abled categories will be provided with a relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum qualifying marks. Candidates from OBC & OEC categories will be given a relaxation of 3% in the qualifying marks to appear for the K-TET III.

For Category 4

For Language teachers in Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers and Physical Education teachers (up to High School level)

  • Those who have acquired qualifications for the posts of Language Teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit & Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers & Physical Education teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of Kerala Education Act and Rules are eligible to apply for K-TET IV.
  • Candidates from SC/ST and differently-abled categories will be provided a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying marks prescribed for the eligibility to appear for the K-TET IV.

Kerala TET Application Fee 2026

Candidates need to pay an application fee when submitting their Kerala TET application form online through the official website www.ktet.kerala.gov.in. Candidates from the general category have to pay a fee of Rs. 500/-, and candidates from other categories have to pay Rs. 250/-.

Steps to Apply Online for Kerala TET Exam 2026

Candidates can apply online for the KTET 2026 Exam through online mode by visiting the official website of www.ktet.kerala.gov.in. For the candidate’s ease, here we have provided the step-by-step process to apply online for the KTET exam.

Step 1: Visit the official website https://ktet.kerala.gov.in/.

Step 2: On the homepage, under K-TET February 2026 Notification, click on “Registration”.

Step 3: Fill out their registration forms by selecting the category for which you want to apply.

Step 4: Submitting the basic details of candidates, such as candidates’ personal information, email ID, and mobile no. etc

Step 5: Upload the photograph in the prescribed format (jpeg/JPG format and must be between 20 and 30kb size).

Step 6: A unique application number will be sent to the candidates’ registered email id and mobile number.

Step 7: Click on Candidates Login and enter your application number and id.

Step 8: Submit the required details and pay an application fee as per category.

Step 9: Download and take a printout of the KTET Application forms for future reference.

KTET 2026 Exam Pattern

  • The KTET exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
  • For each category, 1 mark will be awarded.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • The time duration will be provided as 2 hours and 30 minutes.
