Nationality / Citizenship of Applicants

A candidate applying for UPSC ESE 2024 Examination must be one of the following:

1. Citizen of India
2. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
3. Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement.
4. Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

UPSC ESE Educational Qualification

Candidate must hold a degree in Engineering/Technology (BE/B. Tech) or its equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & telecommunication discipline from an approved government Institution/University.

UPSC ESE Age Limit (as on 01/01/2024)

Any candidate who is applying for the UPSC ESE Exam should not be less than 21 years old and not more than 30 years old at the time of registration process. In addition to this, there is an age relaxation application to category-wise candidates as per the government rules.
