The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recruits eligible candidates for the posts of Group ‘A’ officers through the Civil Service Examination (CSE) and Indian Forest Service Examination (IFS) for which the official notification has been released on 14th February 2024. Only the candidates who are eligible as per the prescribed parameters released by the authorities in the official notification will be allowed to apply for the UPSC Recruitment 2024. As per the UPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024, candidates must be at least 21 years old and not more than 32 years old for the IAS posts & IFS exam. UPSC Eligibility 2024

The UPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024 describes the minimum requirements to be fulfilled by the candidates before applying for the IAS posts & Indian Forest Service Examination. Only the candidates who fulfill the minimum requirements described by the authorities will be allowed to appear in the Civil Service Examination to be held on 26th May 2024. The candidates belonging to reserved categories will get a certain upper limit age relaxation. UPSC Age Limit 2024 (As On 01/08/2024)

Candidates applying for the UPSC Civil Servant posts & IFS must be at least 21 years old to be eligible as per the UPSC Eligibility 2024. Candidates have not been born before 2nd August 1992 and also not after 1st August 2003. UPSC Age Relaxations

The candidates who are seeking to become Civil Servants or IAS must hold a graduation degree from a recognized university, and check other minimum educational qualifications that are to be fulfilled for the CSE & IFS examination listed below.

  • The candidate must obtain a graduation degree from a government-approved university or have an equivalent qualification. (Minimum Qualification)
  • Medical students who have passed the final year of MBBS but have not yet completed the internship are also eligible for IAS. Along with the Main Examination application, a certificate of course completion (including internship) from the relevant authorities University/Institution must be submitted.
  • Candidates with professional and technical qualifications recognized by the government as being equivalent to professional and technical degrees.
  • Candidates who are in their final year or awaiting results are also eligible to take the UPSC preliminary exam. All such candidates who seek to compete in IAS exams must provide documentation of passing the specified examination along with the application for the main IAS examination.
Indian Forest Service Examination (IFS) The candidate must have completed a Bachelor’s degree in at least one of the following fields: Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science.

OR

A Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, Forestry, or Engineering from any university established by an Act of the Central or State Legislature of India, or holding an equivalent degree.

Any candidate who is a citizen of India can apply for the UPSC Civil Servant posts & IFS examination. Check the other nationalities that are eligible to apply for the UPSC IAS posts listed below.

  • A permanent resident of India
  • As a subject of Nepal and Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1st January 1962.
  • Or a person of Indian origin who moved to India to make a permanent settlement from Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and East African nations such as Uganda, Zambia, Zaire, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, & Vietnam.

Number of Attempts for UPSC Exam

Candidates from SC/ST categories have an unlimited number of attempts i.e. there is no limit on how many times SC/ST candidates can appear for the Union Public Service Commission CSE & IFS Examination. The number of attempts for the UPSC IAS examination is tabulated below.
