RRB Group D Court Case Update 2025, Final Verdict Out [CEN 08/2024]

The Delhi High Court previously issued a stay order after a contempt petition was filed, stopping all activities related to the exam. The case was transferred to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), which instructed the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) to stop the recruitment process until the final verdict is delivered. Now the final verdict is out, and both ITI and 10th pass candidates can appear for the exam.

Finally after a long wait, on 12th November 2025, the final decision by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has ruled in favour of the Railways. The petition has also been dismissed. New exam dates will be announced soon.

RRB Group D 2025 Court Case Final Verdict

This ruling marks the closure of a legal battle that started earlier in the year, during which ITI-qualified candidates had filed petitions challenging the Railways’ eligibility and recruitment notices. The CAT emphasised the Railways’ full authority to decide the qualifications and recruitment processes as per official notifications, stating there is no separate legal value for interim notices or intent.

What was RRB Group D 2025 Court Case? 10th vs ITI Eligibility Dispute?

The main reason for the delay in the RRB Group D recruitment was the dispute over eligibility. There was a question of whether only candidates with an ITI qualification should be eligible for Group D posts, or if candidates who have completed 10th grade should also be considered.

Despite this ongoing legal issue, the RRB Group D 2025 Computer-Based Test (CBT) was to be conducted from 17th November 2025 onwards. After months of waiting, candidates should now focus on their preparation and ensure that all their important documents are ready for the exam. In the meantime, candidates should remain prepared and keep an eye out for official communications regarding admit cards and exam details.

This update clarifies that candidates with either a 10th-grade pass or an ITI certificate are eligible. The final court decision is now out.
