How to check the GATE Answer Key 2026?

1. Go to the official website of IIT Guwahati, https://gate2026.iitg.ac.in/.
2. On the home page, click on the “Career” section.
3. Look for the “GATE Answer Key 2026” link.
4. A new page will open. Candidates should log in using their user ID and password.
5. Log in to your account using your registration number and password.
6. Open the answer key.
7. Download and save it for future reference.

Steps to Calculate Marks Using the GATE Final Answer Key 2026

The answer key helps the candidates to access the estimated score. After downloading the answer key, candidates should compare the answers with their response sheet and calculate the answers according to the marking scheme.

1. The correct answer will get the +1 or +2 marks.
2. Incorrect answers will deduct one-third for 1-mark questions and two-thirds for 2-mark questions.
3. No marks deducted for unattempted questions.

GATE 2026 Exam – Marking Scheme

Candidates can calculate their marks in the GATE 2026 Exam by using the answer key and the GATE 2026 Marking Scheme as notified by the exam conducting body.

• For 1-Mark MCQs – The candidate should give themselves +1 for a right answer. The candidate must subtract 1/3 for a wrong answer.
• For 2-Mark MCQs – The candidate should give themselves +2 for a right answer. The candidate must subtract 2/3 for a wrong answer.
• For NAT and MSQ – There is no negative marking for the candidate. If the candidate is wrong, they get 0. If the candidate is right, they get the full marks.

What is the After the GATE 2026 Final Answer Key?

After the release of the final answer key, the exam authority will declare the results of the examination on 19th March 2026. The result will include the candidate’s score, All India Rank (AIR), and qualifying status. The GATE score is widely used for admissions into M.Tech/Ph.D. programs and recruitment in several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

GATE 2026 Score Validity

GATE 2026 score is valid for three years from the date of result declaration (19 March 2026), i.e., until March 2029. During this period, candidates can use their GATE score for

• M.Tech admissions at NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded institutes via CCMT
• PhD admissions at IITs, IISc, and other research institutes

• Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) and other government-funded research programmes
