The Directorate General of Assam Rifles, Shillong, has initiated a recruitment process under the Compassionate Ground Appointment Scheme for 117 posts across Rifleman/Riflewoman GD, Warrant Officer, Havildar Clerk, and Technical Trades. Candidates who are dependents of Assam Rifles Personnel, as well as those who are not dependents, must download their application form from www.assamrifles.gov.in and submit it offline by 11th May 2026.

Assam Rifles Compassionate Ground Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must check the eligibility conditions of the recruitment in terms of educational qualification, age limit, and special conditions for dependents of Assam Rifles Personnel. Candidates must meet all the eligibility requirements to be considered for the recruitment process.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates applying for Rifleman/Riflewoman GD must have completed Class 10th.
  • For the Warrant Officer Cipher post, candidates must have acquired a relevant qualification in the cipher trade.
  • Havildar Clerk posts require candidates to have completed Class 10th. They must also have knowledge of computers or have typing skills.
  • Candidates who want to apply for any of the trade posts, such as Rifleman EFS, Lineman, Armourer, Recovery Vehicle Mechanic, EMV, Metalsmith, Mason, Store Keeper Tech, Vehicle Mechanic, Engineer Equipment Mechanic

Age Limit

Candidates must be above the age of 18 years. But they should not have completed their 28th year of age. For this recruitment, the cut-off age is on 1st January 2026.

Special Conditions

Under this condition, only one family member of the Assam Rifles Personnel who was killed in action, died while in service, has been discharged from the service on medical grounds, and those who are missing while in service are eligible.

The application process for this recruitment is being conducted through offline mode only. Eligible candidates must complete the application form and submit it with the self-attested documents either by post or by email. Steps to Apply for Assam Rifles Compassionate Ground Recruitment 2026

Candidates must fill out the application form with their personal, academic qualifications, and family details, attach self-attested copies, and send it to the recruitment branch of Assam Rifles. Candidates must follow the steps given below to complete the application process:

  1. Candidates must first download the application form from the official website www.assamrifles.gov.in.
  2. Enter your personal information and educational qualifications, which include trade/technical qualifications.
  3. Then, candidates must attach the self-attested documents of educational certificates (Class 10th certificate), domicile certificate, category certificate (if required), diploma/Technical/ITI certificate (as per trade requirements), photo ID proof (include only one xerox copy of Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, or Driving License), proof of relation with Assam Rifle Personnel, and relevant certificates which proves the death/discharge/missing status of the Assam Rifles personnel.
  4. Now, candidates must clearly mention “APPLICATION FOR COMPASSIONATE GROUND APPOINTMENT” at the top of the application form.
  5. There is no application fee for any category of candidate.
  6. To submit the application form, candidates must scan all the documents and send them as an email to rectbrdgar@gmail.com.

Assam Rifles Selection Process 2026

The selection process for the Assam Rifles is covered through multiple stages. It begins with a recruitment rally, during which candidates undergo PET/PST, a written exam, a skill or trade test, and then a medical exam.

  1. PST & PET: In the Physical Standard Test (PST), candidates’ physical measurements are checked in terms of height, weight, and chest measurement. While in Physical Efficiency Test (PET), candidates have to cover a certian distance by running within a specified time limit.
  2. Written Exam: Physical test qualified candidates will be called for a written exam. Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks as per their category to be called for the next round.
  3. Skill/Trade Test: Candidates who have opted for trade posts must appear for the skill test. The details of this stage will be provided in the detailed notification.
  4. Document Verification: Candidates will be required to appear before the office of the Director General of Assam Rifles, Shillong, to verify the original documents. In case of any mismatch, candidates will lose their candidature.
  5. Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify for the document verification will be called to undergo the medical exam round. This ensures that only medically fit candidates get the final appointment.

Assam Rifles Compassionate Ground Salary 2026

Candidates who are selected through this recruitment will receive a salary as per the 7th Pay Commission. As this recruitment includes both technical and non-technical positions, the salary will vary. The basic pay starts at Rs. 21,700, and the monthly in-hand salary ranges between Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 70,000 or more. Along with a stable salary, selected candidates are also eligible for DA, hardship allowance, risk allowance, and other service-related benefits as per Assam Rifles rules.
