More than 35 lakhs of candidates have registered for 25487 General Duty Constable vacancies and have been anxiously waiting for the slot booking process, for which there is no update till today. So we can expect that the SSC GD Exam can be postponed; however, candidates are advised to wait for the official announcement. 

Will SSC GD Exam 2026 be Postponed?

As of 17th February 2026, the SSC GD Constable Exam 2026 remains officially scheduled to start from 23rd February 2026, with no postponement announced by the officials. Delays in slot booking, exam city slips, and ongoing SSC MTS rescheduling indicate that the SSC GD Exam might be postponed, and new dates can be announced soon.

As per the new pattern followed by SSC, first, the candidates have to choose their preferred exam city, and then their admit cards will be released. This process starts at least 20-25 days before the exam date, and for SSC GD, there is no update regarding the same till today.

Reason of SSC GD Exam 2026 Postponement

Despite the official schedule released for the examination, several indicators have raised uncertainty among aspirants:

1. Slot booking delay: As the slot selection hasn’t been made available yet, it is usually released around 20-25 days before the exam starts.
2. Delay in city intimation slips: The city intimation slips are released 4 to 5 days before the exam date, and there is no update in regard to the release of exam city slips.
3. No update on ssc.gov.in: With no fresh updates or clarifications from the commission so far, rumours continue to circulate among students and coaching forums.

The start date for booking your preferred slot and exam city will be announced by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) through an official notice on their website www.ssc.gov.in. SSC GS Exam City Slip Not Released

The SSC releases the SSC GD City Intimation Slip approximately a week before the exam, providing students with details about their exam city and shift timing. Since the exam is scheduled to start on 23rd February, the city slip should have been issued by now.

SSC GD New Exam Date 2026

If the SSC GD Exam is postponed officially, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will release the official notice for the new SSC GD Exam Date and Schedule on their official website www.ssc.gov.in. Along with the exam date, the schedule for slot selection will also be notified. Candidates must not to worry, as the exam may be delayed but not cancelled.
