Assam Police Constable Selection Process 2026
First, candidates must appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), followed by a Medical Examination and the Physical Standard Test (PST). After qualifying in these stages, they will be called for the Written Test. Then shortlisted candidates will be called for the Oral/Viva-Voce.

Assam Police Constable Exam Pattern 2026
The written exam will have 100 multiple-choice questions for a total of 50 marks. Candidates will get +0.5 marks for each correct answer, and there is no negative marking. The difficulty level of the exam will be for Class 9 and 10. The exam is available in Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, or English.

The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for Assam Police Constable carries 40 marks. The marks distribution is as follows:

After passing the PET, candidates will go through a Medical Examination by a Medical & Health Officer. After clearing the medical test, candidates must appear for the PST.
Medical Standards
Candidates must be free from knocked knees, flat feet, squint eyes, and color blindness. They should be physically and mentally fit, without diseases like diabetes, heart, or respiratory problems. Vision must be 6/6 in one eye and at least 6/9 in the other, with normal near vision.
Physical Standard Test
The PST has no marks, and candidates who fail it cannot appear for the PET. The PST checks a candidate’s height, weight, and chest (for males). A doctor also does a quick medical check for knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins, vision issues, and other physical problems.

Document Verification
For document verification, candidates must bring original certificates along with self-attested copies during PST & PET. If a candidate cannot show the original caste certificate, they will be treated as the General category. All documents must be issued on or before 16-01-2026.
Oral/Viva Voce (5 Marks)
Based on the combined marks of the PET and Written Test, candidates equal to two times the number of vacancies will be called for the Oral/Viva Voce, which carries 5 marks.
