SSB Head Constable Selection Process 2026

SSB Head Constable recruitment 2026 goes through 4 stages to complete its selection process. These stages check the candidate’s physical efficiency for the post, knowledge in various subjects, computer proficiency, and medical fitness for the post. SSB Head Constable selection process is given below:

1. Physical Tests: This stage includes Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). Both of these tests are conducted in SSB locations. In PET, candidates’ physical endurance is checked through running for a specific time. In PST, the candidate’s height and chest measurement are done, which vary with posts.
2. Written Examination: Candidates who qualify for the physical tests become eligible to sit for the CBT of 150 MCQs of 4 subjects. To proceed to the next stage, candidates must score a minimum qualifying mark in the CBT.
3. Skill Tests: This stage is only for those who have applied for the SSB Head Constable (Electrician) post. It will be conducted by FHQ SSB. This stage is qualifying in nature but carries 50 marks. Candidates must pass this stage to proceed to the next selection stage.
4. Document Verification/Medical Examination: In this, candidates must submit their personal, academic, and category details for eligibility verification. After this, SSB calls candidates for their detailed medical examination.

SSB Head Constable Exam Pattern 2026

The exam pattern is for the Computer-Based Test. It consists of 150 MCQ-based questions, which the candidates have to complete in 3 hours. The CBT consists of 2 parts. Part 1 carries 50 marks, and Part 2 carries 100 marks. The detailed exam pattern is given below:

Marking Scheme:

1. For every correct answer, candidates get a +1 mark.
2. For every incorrect answer, -0.25 or 1/4th marks are deducted.
3. For unanswered questions, no marks are deducted.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates who appear for the CBT must ensure that they score a minimum qualifying mark in both parts 1 & 2 combined. Failing to secure it will result in being disqualified from the selection process.
