SSB Constable Tradesman Selection Process 2026
Candidates aspiring for the post of Tradesman must go through the following stages of the SSB Constable Tradesman selection process:
- Physical Test: This is the first stage of the recruitment process, which involves 2 parts, Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). PET requires both male and female candidates to run for a particular distance in a specified time. PST involves height and chest (only male candidates) measurement, but varies with different posts.
- Written Examination: Candidates who qualify for the physical tests are to appear for a CBT of 2 hours, with 100 MCQs. Candidates of each category must pass CBT with a minimum qualifying mark to proceed to the next stage.
- Documentation/Skill Test: In documentation, candidates are to verify their personal, educational, and category details. All posts under the SSB Constable Tradesman exam require candidates to appear for a 50-mark skill test. It’s qualifying in nature, but candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks.
- Medical Examination: Candidates must undergo a detailed medical checkup as set by SSB for the Constable Tradesman posts.
SSB Constable Tradesman Exam Pattern 2026
Candidates who are qualified to appear for the SSB Constable Tradesman CBT must understand the SSB Constable Tradesman Exam Pattern.
- A total of 100 multiple choice questions.
- Candidates get 2 hours to complete their exam.
- For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks are deducted.
- For every correct answer, candidates get 1 mark.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
This stage tests the candidate’s physical fitness, and its specifics vary with the gender of the candidates.
