Bihar Police SI Mains Exam 2026 Postponed, Check Official Notice

Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mains Examination 2026, which was earlier scheduled to be held in April 2026, has been postponed by the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) through the official notice released on 9th April 2026. The revised examination date will be announced shortly on the official website https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in/.

BPSSC SI Recruitment examination Advertisement No. 05/2025 is being conducted for 1,799 vacancies of Police Sub-Inspector posts in the Home (Police) Department, Government of Bihar. A total of 4,48,899 candidates are shortlisted to appear for the Mains Examination.

Bihar Police SI Mains Exam Pattern

  • The main exam consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions.
  • Paper 1 is qualifying in nature; candidates are required to score 30% marks.
  • Each question carries 02 marks.
  • There will be a negative marking, and 0.2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • The time duration for each paper is 2 hours.

Bihar Police SI 2026 Selection Process

The selection of candidates for the 1799 vacancies of Police Sub-Inspector posts in the Home (Police) Dept., Govt. of Bihar consists of the following stages:

  1. Preliminary Written Examination – Conducted on 18th & 21th January 2026 (Completed)
  2. Mains Written Examination – A total of 4,48,899 qualified for the mains exam. The mains exam covers General Hindi & General Studies in two papers
  3. Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test – The PET PST is qualifying in nature and checks the physical fitness and endurance of candidates through activities such as running, jumping, and other physical tasks.
  4. Document Verification – Shortlisted candidates must present their original documents for verification. These may include educational certificates, identity proof, category certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, and other required documents.
  5. Medical Examination – The medical test is conducted to ensure that candidates meet the required health and physical fitness standards necessary for the post of Police Sub-Inspector.
