1. Preliminary Examination

• Total Marks: 200
• Number of Questions: 100 (MCQ format)
• Time Limit: 2 hours

2. Main Examination (Mains Exam)

• Paper 1: Hindi (200 Marks)
• Paper 2: General Studies, Mathematics, Logical Ability (200 Marks)

3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST)

• Male Candidates: 1.6 km run (within 6 minutes)
• Female Candidates: 1 km run (within 5 minutes)

(The physical standards also include measurements of height, weight, and chest expansion. The Physical Efficiency Test tests the physical efficiency and fitness of candidates, including running, High Jump. Long Jump, Shot Put, and all.)

4. Document Verification and Medical Examination (DV & Medical Test)

Bihar Police SI Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The Preliminary exam will consist of one paper of 200 marks, containing a total of 100 questions, with a duration of 2 hours. The questions will be asked from general knowledge and current affairs. Candidates who score less than 80% in this paper will be unsuccessful in the main examination.

1. The prelims written exam will consist of objective multiple-choice questions.
2. Each question carries 02 marks.
3. There will be a negative marking of 0.2 Marks for each wrong answer.
4. The time duration for the exam is 2 hours (120 Minutes).
5. Based on the marks obtained in the Preliminary exam, a total of 20 times the number of vacancies will be called for the mains.

Bihar Police SI Mains Exam Pattern 2026

The Bihar Police SI Mains examination will consist of two papers:

• First Paper: This is a General Hindi paper of 200 marks, with 100 questions. A minimum of 30% marks must be obtained to pass. The marks obtained in this General Hindi paper will not be considered in the merit list.
• Second Paper: This paper will cover questions from General Studies, General Science, Indian Geography, Political Science, Indian History, Mathematics, and Reasoning.

1. Paper 1 is qualifying in nature, candidates are required to score 30% marks.
2. Each question carries 02 marks.
3. There will be a negative marking of 0.2 Marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
4. The time duration for each paper is 02 hours.

Bihar Police SI Physical Test 2026

The Bihar Police Sub-Inspector physical test is divided into two segments: the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and the Physical Standard Test (PST). The details are discussed below.

Bihar Police SI Physical Efficiency Test

Candidates who clear the Bihar Police SI Mains examination will be called to appear for the Bihar Police SI Physical Examination. Candidates will be selected for the PET test on the basis of their performance as per the following parameters.

Bihar Police SI Physical Standard Test

Candidates who qualify for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be examined for the Physical Standard Test (PST) i.e. height, chest, and weight measurement. PST is qualifying in nature; no marks will be awarded for the PST test. The candidates who do not fulfill the laid-down physical standard will be eliminated.
