MAHA TET 2026 Exam Summary

Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET) is conducted to determine the eligibility of applicants for primary (Classes 1-5) and upper primary (Classes 6-8) teachers in schools within the state. The certificate validity is lifetime, and candidates can apply for teacher vacancies released in the state using this certificate.

MAHA TET Exam Date 2026 Out

The MAHATET examination consists of two papers, which shall be conducted on 21st June 2026 in two shifts (morning and afternoon). The shift timings for each paper are as follows-

• Paper 1 (for Classes 1–5): Morning Session- 10:30 am to 1:00 pm
• Paper 2 (for Classes 6–8): Afternoon Session-  2:30 pm to 5:00 pm

Those who wish to be hired for Class I to VIII Teachers in government schools of Maharashtra are first required to fulfil the eligibility criteria for the MAHA TET 2026 examination. What is the age limit for the MAHA TET exam?
Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply for the MAHA TET (Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test) but there is no upper age limit. Any candidate with proper educational requirements can apply for this exam.

MAHA TET 2026 Application Fees

While filling out the online application form for MAHA TET 2026, candidates need to submit an application fee specific to their categories. Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories applying for either paper 1 or 2 are required to pay Rs. 700/- and those applying for both papers need to submit Rs. 900/- as an application fee.

MAHA TET 2026 Exam Pattern

The MAHA TET 2026 exam consists of two papers, i.e., Paper 1 and Paper 2. Each paper is for 150 marks, and candidates are required to thoroughly check out the exam pattern for both papers before beginning their preparation for this state-level exam.

• In both Papers 1 and 2, there will be a total of 150 multiple-choice questions.
• For every correct answer, candidates get +1.
• For a wrong answer, no marks will be deducted.
• Both papers will be conducted for 2 hours and 30 minutes each.

MAHA TET Paper 1

The first paper for the Maharashtra State Teacher Eligibility Test consists of 150 multiple-choice questions and is conducted for those wishing to be hired as primary teachers.

MAHA TET Paper 2

MAHA TET 2026- Qualifying Marks

Is there any restrictions on the number of attempts for the Maha TET exam?
No, There are no restrictions on the number of attempts. Candidates having a Diploma in Teacher Training, D.Ed., or B.Ed. depending on the paper level (Class 1-5 or 6-8). can apply for this exam.

MAHA TET Certificate Validity

The MAHA TET Certificate is awarded to candidates who successfully pass the examination with high scores. The certificate will be issued by the Maharashtra State Board of Examination (MSCE) at their respective centres. This certificate will remain valid for a lifetime. Possessing the MAHA TET certificate will qualify the candidate to work as a Teacher in Maharashtra schools.

Steps to Apply for Maharashtra TET 2026 Exam

Those who are interested and eligible to apply for the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test can do so by visiting the official exam portal and then following the detailed procedure shared below.

1. Open the official exam portal for Maharashtra State Board of Examination (MSCE), i.e., https://mscepune.in/
2. Click on the “Candidate’s login” button available on the homepage.
3. A drop-down menu opens up, tap on the “New Candidate Registration” button.
4. Now, create a username and password. Then enter your full name, father’s name, mobile number, and email ID.
5. Verify the OTP sent to the registered e-mail ID and mobile number.
6. Now, go back to the login portal and enter the generated user ID and password.
7. Here, enter all the relevant details, including your qualifications.
8. Then, upload the photograph, signature, mark sheets, and other necessary certificates.
9. Preview the MAHA TET Application Form 2026 and then pay the application fees.
10. Submit the application form now.
