WB Gram Panchayat Exam 2026

The Gram Panchayat recruitment exam will be a written test with MCQs, either OMR or CBT (Computer-Based Test), for the selection of candidates for Panchayat Karmi, Group D, Peon, GP Sahayak, Secretary, Clerk, Typist, and other posts. It has 85 questions covering English, Bengali, arithmetic/maths, and general knowledge.

Educational Qualification

• Gram Panchayat Karmi (Worker) – Candidates must have passed Class 8
• Gram Panchayat Sahayak (Assistant) – Completed Madhyamik (Class 10) with a minimum of 50% marks
• Data Entry Operator (DEO) – Madhyamik + 6-month govt-approved Computer Course
• Panchayat Secretary – Passed Higher Secondary (HS/Class 12)
• Nirman Sahayak (Construction Assistant) – Must Have a Civil Engineering Diploma
• Executive Assistant – Must have a Bachelor’s Degree + Computer Proficiency

Knowledge of the local language is required for candidates applying for Panchayat job posts. Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak the state’s official regional language. Candidates must be proficient in Bengali or Nepali (in certain hill regions). 

Age Limit

The category-wise age criteria for the WB Gram Panchayat Exam are as follows.
