Qualifying Marks (Cut-Off) for UGC NET Certificate
The minimum qualifying marks for UGC NET are usually 40% aggregate for the General category and 35% aggregate for reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, and Transgender candidates. These qualifying marks are the baseline needed to be considered for UGC NET eligibility. After that, NTA also releases subject-wise cut-offs separately for Assistant Professor only and Assistant Professor + JRF categories. The minimum qualifying marks are not the same as the final cut-off. The final cut-off changes by subject, category, and exam cycle, depending on factors like the number of candidates and exam difficulty.
What to do after downloading UGC NET certificate?
After downloading your UGC NET certificate, the next step is to save, verify, and use it for the purpose you qualified for. The certificate serves as proof of eligibility for JRF, Assistant Professor, or PhD admission, depending on your result category.
If you qualified for Assistant Professor, you can submit the certificate during faculty recruitment or eligibility verification. If you qualified for JRF, the certificate is useful for research fellowship and PhD admission processes, and the certificate can also be requested by institutions for verification.

The UGC NET certificate is generally valid for a lifetime for Assistant Professor eligibility, while the JRF award is typically valid for 3 years from the date of issue.
