What Are Good Attempts in SSC CGL?

Good attempts represent the approximate number of questions that candidates are able to answer with reasonable accuracy based on the difficulty level of a particular shift. It should not be treated as a fixed qualifying score or cutoff.

Since SSC CGL Tier 1 is conducted in multiple shifts, candidates should consider accuracy along with the number of attempts. Attempting more questions with a high number of incorrect answers can reduce the final raw score because of negative marking.

As previously the board has clearly mentioned that “No review of the exam can be shared in case anyone found sharing the questions or review of the exam, SSC will impose penalties on individual/Service Providers/Institutions.”

The Tier 1 examination is conducted for 60 minutes, with 100 objective-type questions carrying a total of 200 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.50 mark for every incorrect answer.

How to Calculate SSC CGL Tier 1 Score?

Candidates can calculate their approximate raw score using the following formula:

SSC CGL Raw Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 2) − (Number of Incorrect Answers × 0.50)

Example

Suppose a candidate attempted 85 questions and got 75 correct while 10 were incorrect.

Score = (75 × 2) − (10 × 0.50)

Score = 150 − 5 = 145 marks
