Tips for Choosing the Right SSC CGL Post Preference

  1. Do not rush: Candidates must do so with a calm mind and not in a hurry, as preferences will not be changed later.
  2. Consider salary and pay level: Posts like ASO (MEA) and Income Tax Inspector at Level-7 offer the highest starting salaries, along with attractive perks and allowances.
  3. Consider career growth: Posts with structured departmental exams — such as Income Tax Inspector (CBDT) and Sub-Inspector (CBI) — offer clear promotion pathways.
  4. Consider job profile: If you prefer a desk-based role, go for ASO or Tax Assistant. If you prefer field work, Inspector roles may suit you better.
  5. Check physical & medical requirements: Candidates seeking posts such as Inspector (Excise), Preventive Officer, Examiner, Sub-Inspector (CBI, NIA, NCB), and Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO) must fulfil additional physical and medical requirements for eligibility.
