Major Changes for AAO (Assistant Audit/Accounts Officer) Posts

If you are aiming for these high-level posts, there are three big updates:

  • A New Exam (Paper-III): In the Tier-2 (Mains) exam, a new Paper-III has been added specifically for these posts. It covers General Studies (Finance and Economics) and will directly count toward your final merit score.
  • Cadre Separation: The positions are now strictly divided into a Central Cadre and a State Cadre.
  • Local Language Rule: If you are selected for a State Cadre post, you must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the local language of that state. You will need to show proof of this language proficiency from your 10th-grade (matriculation) school documents.

Clear Rules on “Sectional Timing” in Tier-1 & Tier-2

  • Tier 1- The 1-hour exam has been divided into 15 minutes per section for the 4 subjects (General Intelligence/Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English).
  • Tier 2- In Paper 1, the sectional timing has been introduced. (Section 1- 30-30 minutes, Section 2- 40-20 minutes, Section 3- 15 minutes, and Section 4- 15 minutes).
  • No sectional timing for SSC CGL Tier 2 Paper 2 & 3.
