In this recruitment, a total of 103 vacancies will be filled for the Executive Engineer (Civil) Class 1 and Deputy Executive Engineer (Civil) Class 2 positions. GPSC Engineering Service (Civil) Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates interested in applying for the Engineering Service positions must check the eligibility requirements in terms of educational qualification, age limit, and other necessary qualifications.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have completed their Graduation in Engineering (Civil) or Technology (Civil) from a recognised university or incorporated under a Central or State Act of India or any other educational institution recognised or deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or having completed any equivalent qualification as approved by the Government.
  • Those candidates who have appeared in the Bachelor’s degree final exam and are awaiting the results can appear for the Prelims exam. But they must submit the proof of passing their Graduation and application for the Mains exam while appearing for the Mains exam.

Age Limit

The minimum age of candidates to be eligible to apply is 20 years. But candidates must not be above 35 years of age. GPSC will calculate the age cut-off date as on the last date of application, 15th April 2026. The Commission has also provided age relaxation for reserved category candidates.

Steps to Apply Online for Gujarat Engineering Service Recruitment 2026

During the application process, candidates have to fill out the application form with educational, personal, and caste details, pay the application fee, and upload the required documents. GPSC Gujarat Engineering Service (Civil) Selection Process 2026

The selection process for the Engineering Service recruitment involves three steps. It begins with a Preliminary test, which is followed by the Mains exam and Interview. The final merit lists will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the Mains exam and Interview.

  1. Prelims: This is a screening stage and shortlists candidates for the next stage. The Commission will shortlist 15 times the total vacancies for the Mains exam. Marks secured in this round will not be considered for final selection.
  2. Mains: This the main stage of recruitment. Candidates have to write descriptive answers and have a total of five subjects.
  3. Interview: Candidates shortlisted from the Mains stage will be called for an interview at the GPSC office. In this round, the candidate’s communication skills and suitability for the posts will be tested. Candidates will be called 3 times the number of advertised vacancies.

GPSC has given a structured exam pattern for the Engineering Services recruitment. The Prelims exam has two papers, but the Mains exam has a total of 5 papers.

The Preliminary exam has two papers. Paper 1 has two parts: Part 1 is General Studies & Part 2 is Engineering Aptitude. While Paper 2 is Civil Engineering. Part 1 of Paper 1 will be in the Gujarati language. While Part 2 of Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be in the English language. All questions will be in MCQ format. The standard of the Prelims exam will be that of a graduation degree.

GPSC Engineering Service Mains Exam Pattern 2026

The Mains exam has 5 papers, two of which are language papers and the remaining three are Civil Engineering papers. The language of questions of Paper 1 will be in Gujarati, and for the rest of the papers, it will be in English. The level of the Gujarati language paper will be that of the Class 12th standard. The Civil Engineering paper will be of degree standard. The Mains exam carries a total of 800 marks.
