Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has come up with a golden opportunity for candidates seeking government jobs in the civil engineering field. The Commission has released a recruitment notification with 103 vacancies for the Gujarat Engineering Service (Civil) for Class-1 and Class-2 posts. GPSC has announced the application dates for the Engineering Service Recruitment through the notification. For appearing in the Prelims exam, candidates have to submit the consent along with the consent deposit within the specified period.

GPSC Gujarat Engineering Service (Civil) Vacancy 2026

In this recruitment, a total of 103 vacancies will be filled for the Executive Engineer (Civil) Class 1 and Deputy Executive Engineer (Civil) Class 2 positions. Candidates will be posted in two departments of Narmada, Water Resources, Water Supply, and Kalpasar Department, and Road and Building Department.

GPSC Engineering Service (Civil) Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates interested in applying for the Engineering Service positions must check the eligibility requirements in terms of educational qualification, age limit, and other necessary qualifications.

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have completed their Graduation in Engineering (Civil) or Technology (Civil) from a recognised university or incorporated under a Central or State Act of India or any other educational institution recognised or deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or having completed any equivalent qualification as approved by the Government.
• Those candidates who have appeared in the Bachelor’s degree final exam and are awaiting the results can appear for the Prelims exam. But they must submit the proof of passing their Graduation and application for the Mains exam while appearing for the Mains exam.

Age Limit

The minimum age of candidates to be eligible to apply is 20 years. But candidates must not be above 35 years of age. GPSC will calculate the age cut-off date as on the last date of application, 15th April 2026. The Commission has also provided age relaxation for reserved category candidates.

Other Qualifications

• Computer Knowledge: Candidates must have a basic knowledge of Computer Applications, as prescribed under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules 1967.
• Language Proficiency: Candidates must possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

GPSC Gujarat Engineering Service (Civil) Application Fee 2026

Candidates who are interested in applying must complete the application process and then submit it by paying the application fee as per the category. The application can be paid online by using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI Payment methods. The fee is non-refundable and includes Postal or Bank charges.

Steps to Apply Online for Gujarat Engineering Service Recruitment 2026

During the application process, candidates have to fill out the application form with educational, personal, and caste details, pay the application fee, and upload the required documents. Candidates must make sure that they complete the application form well before the last date to avoid technical glitches.

1. On any internet browser, visit the official website of GPSC https://gpsc.gujarat.gov.in.
2. On the homepage, at the top, go to the “Online Application” section and in it click on “Apply”.
3. A new window will open. In this, search the link titled, “GPSC – Gujarat Engineering Service (Civil), Class-1 and Class-2, Narmada and Water Resources, Water Supply and Kalpsar Department, and Road & Building Department”. You will find the “Apply” button. Click on this.
4. Now, complete the One-Time Registration process by giving your email ID and mobile number in case you are a new user. In case you have already registered, proceed with the application.

6. Upload a recent passport-sized photograph and signature in the prescribed manner.
7. Then pay the application fee as per the category through any of the available online payment modes.

GPSC Gujarat Engineering Service (Civil) Selection Process 2026

The selection process for the Engineering Service recruitment involves three steps. It begins with a Preliminary test, which is followed by the Mains exam and Interview. The final merit lists will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the Mains exam and Interview.

1. Prelims: This is a screening stage and shortlists candidates for the next stage. The Commission will shortlist 15 times the total vacancies for the Mains exam. Marks secured in this round will not be considered for final selection.
2. Mains: This the main stage of recruitment. Candidates have to write descriptive answers and have a total of five subjects.
3. Interview: Candidates shortlisted from the Mains stage will be called for an interview at the GPSC office. In this round, the candidate’s communication skills and suitability for the posts will be tested. Candidates will be called 3 times the number of advertised vacancies.

Gujarat Engineering Service Exam Pattern 2026

GPSC has given a structured exam pattern for the Engineering Services recruitment. The Prelims exam has two papers, but the Mains exam has a total of 5 papers.

GPSC Engineering Service Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The Preliminary exam has two papers. Paper 1 has two parts: Part 1 is General Studies & Part 2 is Engineering Aptitude. While Paper 2 is Civil Engineering. Part 1 of Paper 1 will be in the Gujarati language. While Part 2 of Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be in the English language. All questions will be in MCQ format. The standard of the Prelims exam will be that of a graduation degree.

Note: Blind candidates will get an extra 20 minutes per hour for each paper.

GPSC Engineering Service Mains Exam Pattern 2026

The Mains exam has 5 papers, two of which are language papers and the remaining three are Civil Engineering papers. The language of questions of Paper 1 will be in Gujarati, and for the rest of the papers, it will be in English. The level of the Gujarati language paper will be that of the Class 12th standard. The Civil Engineering paper will be of degree standard. The Mains exam carries a total of 800 marks.
