BTSC JE Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Education Qualification

• Candidates must hold a 3-year Diploma in Engineering in the relevant discipline (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical) from a recognised institute or university.
• Higher qualifications like B.E./B. Tech may also be considered valid, but the minimum requirement is a Diploma.
• Final-year diploma students are usually not eligible unless they can present proof of qualification at the time of document verification.

Candidates must follow these steps to apply for the Bihar BTSC Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026.

1. Visit the official website of  Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) www.btsc.bihar.gov.in.
2. Click on the “Recruitment/Apply Online” section.
3. Select the relevant JE advertisement (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical).

BTSC Bihar JE Vacancy 2026 Selection Process

The selection process for recruiting candidates for Junior Engineer posts will be done on the basis of their performance in the written examination and based on work experience. After that, the qualified candidates will be called for a document verification round.

Stage 1- Written Exam (75 marks): For appointment to the post of Junior Engineer, the merit list of candidates will be prepared based on the total marks obtained in the written exam

Stage 2- Work Experience (25 marks): Up to 25 marks is given for Contract-Based Work Experience

Stage 3- Document Verification: All original documents will be verified in this stage.

BTSC Junior Engineer Exam Pattern 2026

The Bihar BTSC JE Examination for Civil / Mechanical / Electrical is as follows:

• The duration of the exam is 2 hours
• All questions will be objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
• The question paper will contain 100 questions, all from the relevant field (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical).
• +1 mark for every correct answer
• –0.25 mark for every wrong answer

Minimum Qualifying Marks

• General: 40%
• Backward Class: 36.5%
• Extremely Backward Class: 34%
• SC/ST, Women, and Persons with Disabilities: 32%

The field-related questions will follow the latest curriculum prescribed by AICTE, New Delhi for the 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering.

Work Experience: Candidates can get up to 25 marks for contract-based work experience. They will get 5 marks for each full year of experience, with a maximum limit of 25 marks. For partial years, marks will be calculated based on the number of days worked.

BTSC JE Salary 2026

The selected candidates will be paid Rs 44,900/- to Rs 1,42,400/-. The salary will be as per the Level 7 Pay Matrix. Besides this, the candidates will also be given various allowances and benefits. The Grade Pay for BTSC Junior Engineer posts is Rs. 4600/-. The basic pay of BTSC JE is Rs. 9300-34800/- as per the 7th CPC.
