The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), operating under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has started accepting the application form for 899 vacancies in the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) (Advt. No. 01/2026). The application submission form dates are from 21st May to 4th July 2026. 

BRO is a premier road construction agency responsible for building and maintaining roads, bridges, tunnels, and infrastructure in border areas, hilly regions, and remote strategic zones across India. This is a permanent central government job with stable pay, defence allowances, and field experience.

BRO Recruitment Application Fee 2026

To complete the application form, candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs. 50/-. Candidates from the SC/ ST category are exempted from paying the fee.

• SC/ ST/ Other Category – Nil
• Payment Mode – Online only through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. No offline payment is accepted.

How to Apply for BRO Recruitment 2026?

Applications are submitted offline by postal mode for BRO GREF Recruitment 2026. Follow these steps:

1. Visit the official BRO website: www.bro.gov.in
2. Download the prescribed application form from the Recruitment section.
3. Read the detailed notification PDF carefully, including all eligibility conditions and instructions.
4. Fill in the application form neatly in capital letters using black/blue ink.
5. Attach self-attested photocopies of all required documents (do not send originals).
6. Pay the application fee (if applicable) through the online payment link available on the website, and print the fee receipt.
7. Write on the top of the envelope: “APPLICATION FOR (NAME OF POST/TRADE) — CATEGORY (UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/ESM)”
8. Send the application by Registered Post to: The Commandant, GREF Centre, Dighi Camp, Pune – 411015

Note – Applications must reach before the closing date. Cutting, overwriting, or erasing in the application form will not be accepted. The appointment is on a permanent basis.

Educational Qualification

• Draughtsman
  Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Science subjects from a recognised Board
  Having two years Certificate in Architecture Draftsmanship from a recognised Institute equivalent (OR)
  Possessing two years National Trade Certificate
• Hindi Typist
  10+2 from a recognised Board or equivalent (AND)
  Typing speed of 30 words per minute in Hindi on a computer
• Store Keeper Technical (SKT)
  10+2 from a recognised Board or equivalent (AND)
  Having storekeeping knowledge relating to vehicles or engineering equipment
• Operator Communication
  Matriculation from a recognised Board or equivalent  (AND)
  Possessing a Wireless Operator or Radio Mechanic Certificate from the Industrial Training Institute or equivalent (OR)
  Defence Trade Certificate from an Army Institute
• Operator Excavating Machinery (OEM)
  Matriculation from a recognised Board or equivalent
  Possessing a heavy motor vehicle driving licence, or a driving license (OR)
  Having passed the Class II Course of Operator Excavating
• Electrician – Matriculation from a recognised Board or equivalent
  Possessing a certificate as an Auto Electrician from the Industrial Training Institute (OR)
  Having passed the Electrician Class 2 Course
