How the Assam DElEd Merit List Is Prepared?

Selection for the D. El. Ed. Course is solely based on the marks obtained in the Pre-Entry Test – there is no separate interview or document-scrutiny round at merit-list stage. Here’s how SCERT prepares the list:

  • The marks are compiled for every candidate who appeared in PET on 12 July 2026 (100 MCQs, 0.25 negative marking for each wrong answer and marking more than one option taken as wrong).
  • Candidates are arranged district-wise as per the district selected at the time of application.
  • Candidates in each district are further divided into Science stream and Arts & other streams as seats are reserved in 30:70 ratio between the two.
  • A candidate is ranked only in his district and stream and not in the whole state.
  • The category reservation (OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), PWD and EWS) as per the Government of Assam Reservation Policy is applied in each district-stream list for the sake of category-wise rank.

What to Do After Checking the Merit List?

  • “Raw marks don’t matter, your district-stream rank matters. That’s what determines your priority for seat allotment.
