JKSET Eligibility Criteria 2026

Those who are interested in appearing for the JKSET Exam 2026 must check out the detailed eligibility criteria as specified in the JKSET Notification 2026. Candidates are advised to enter the correct details about their eligibility and educational status in the application form; otherwise, it will be rejected.

  1. To be eligible for JKSET/LASET, you need a Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (or 50% for SC/ST/PwD) from a UGC-recognized university. The same relaxation in fees and age (if applicable) applies to transgender candidates as for SC/ST.
  2. Final-year Master’s students can apply for JKSET/LASET even if their results aren’t declared yet. However, they’ll be considered eligible for Assistant Professor only if they pass their Master’s degree with the required minimum marks (55% for general, 50% for SC/ST/PwD) within two years of the SET result. Otherwise, their application will be disqualified.
  3. The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks(i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in JKSET/LASET.
  4. Candidates are required to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation only. The candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of subjects may appear in the UGC-NET/ UGC-CSIR Test held regularly.
  5. Candidates having a post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by an institution falling outside the Indian University system or having a foreign degree/diploma awarded by a foreign university/ institution should in their interest, ascertain the equivalence* of their course(s) with a Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

JKSET Application Fee 2026

Candidates are required to pay the examination fee through online mode. The candidates must remember to download the transaction receipt after successful payment and keep their transaction reference number safe with them.

JKSET Exam Pattern 2026

Before appearing for the JKSET Exam 2026, candidates must thoroughly check out the exam pattern. This gives you insights about the number of questions, total marks, exam duration, etc. The Jammu & Kashmir State Eligibility Test will include two papers, i.e., Paper 1 and Paper 2, each paper will be conducted for 3 hours (180 minutes).
