WBPSC ICDS Supervisor Syllabus 2026 and Exam Pattern, Check Subject Wise Topics

The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) will soon release a notification to recruit eligible candidates for a total of 16000 (expected) Supervisor, Cook & Helper vacancies. Candidates who will be applying have to go through the Prelims and Mains exams. To start the preparation for the exam, candidates must go through the syllabus to know all the subject-wise topics from which questions will be asked in the exam.

WBPSC ICDS Supervisor Exam Pattern 2026

The selection of candidates for the post of Supervisor will be based on a preliminary exam, a mains exam, and a viva-voce (Personality Test). Candidates must also check the exam pattern for both exams to make their preparation strategy.

Prelims Exam

The Prelims is an OMR-based objective-type test. There are 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks. Each correct answer carries 1 mark. There is negative marking for wrong answers. The duration is 60 minutes. The subjects covered are General Knowledge, Arithmetic, and Reasoning.

Mains Exam

The Mains consists of four papers. Paper I is English (Class XII Standard). Paper II is Bengali or any regional language (Class XII Standard). Paper III is General Studies, which covers topics at the graduation level. Paper IV is Arithmetic (Class X Standard). Each paper is 100 marks and must be completed in 90 minutes. There is no negative marking at this stage.

Viva-Voce

Viva-Voce / Personality Test: Candidates clearing the Mains cut-off will have to appear for the personality test of 50 marks. The final merit list is prepared on the basis of the combined score of the written examination (Mains) and Viva-Voce.

Here is the detailed ICDS Supervisor Syllabus for both the Preliminary and Mains stages:

Prelims Syllabus

  • General Knowledge: The GK section of the ICDS Supervisor Syllabus covers Indian History, Indian and World Geography, Economy, Political Science, and Science & Technology. Candidates should also keep up with current affairs and the latest treaties and agreements.
  • Arithmetic: This section of the ICDS Supervisor Syllabus includes topics such as Profit & Loss, Discount, Percentages, Averages, Ratios & Proportions, Number Series, Time & Work, Time & Distance, and Coding-Decoding. Questions are based on the Class X level.
  • Reasoning: The Reasoning portion of the ICDS Supervisor Syllabus covers Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Venn Diagrams, Logic, Coding-Decoding, Number Analogy, and Blood Relations.

Mains Syllabus

  • Paper I- English (Class XII Level): This paper in the ICDS Supervisor Syllabus tests comprehension, grammar, essay writing, précis writing, translation from Bengali to English, and general writing ability.
  • Paper II- Bengali or Regional Language (Class XII Level): This paper tests the candidate’s proficiency in Bengali (or their regional language), including grammar, composition, and report writing.
  • Paper III- General Studies (Graduation Level): This is the most comprehensive paper in the ICDS Supervisor Syllabus. It includes topics such as Life Science with special emphasis on Nutrition and Health, Child Care Basics, Women Empowerment, Right to Education, Mid-Day Meal scheme, latest government schemes related to women and child welfare, and general awareness about social welfare policies in India and West Bengal.
  • Paper IV- Arithmetic (Class X Level): This paper of the ICDS Supervisor Syllabus is based on standard Madhyamik-level mathematics. It includes Percentages, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Time & Distance, and Mensuration.
