Passing this test is a compulsory prerequisite for anyone aspiring to teach in government or private colleges and universities within Madhya Pradesh.

MP SET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Interested candidates must check the eligibility criteria to fill out the form and appear for the MP SET 2026. If the candidate fails to fit in the education and age limits, he/she must be disqualified. Here, have a look at the details of the eligibility.
MP SET Education Qualification
Candidates are eligible if they have:
- Passed a postgraduate (Master’s) degree, or
- Studying in the final year / third or fourth semester of a postgraduate program from:
- A university or educational institution established by a Central or State Act, or
- A university recognised under the UGC Act, 1956 (Notification No. 3 of 1956).
Minimum Marks Requirement:
- Unreserved / General and OBC (Creamy Layer) candidates must have at least 55% marks in their postgraduate degree.
- Reserved category candidates (SC, ST, OBC–Non-Creamy Layer of Madhya Pradesh, and PwD) must have at least 50% marks.
EWS Candidates:
Candidates from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) must also have a minimum of 55% marks in their postgraduate degree, as per UGC guidelines, same as unreserved candidates.
Final-Year Students:
Candidates pursuing the final year of their postgraduate course and whose results are not yet declared are provisionally eligible to appear in the examination.
Validation of Eligibility:
- The eligibility certificate of such provisional candidates will be valid only if they secure the required marks within two years of the State Eligibility Test result declaration:
- 55% marks for Unreserved, EWS, and OBC (Creamy Layer) categories.
- 50% marks for Reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC–Non-Creamy Layer, and PwD candidates of Madhya Pradesh).
Ph.D. Holders:
Candidates who completed their postgraduate degree and hold a Ph.D. are eligible for a 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) in the required marks.
Foreign Degree Holders:
Candidates with a postgraduate degree/diploma/certificate from any Indian or foreign university/institution are eligible, provided that they obtain a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, stating that their qualification is equivalent to a postgraduate degree awarded by Indian universities.
MP SET Age Limit
Candidates will not be restricted based on their age for the MP SET 2026 exam. All individuals, irrespective of age, will have equal opportunities to take the test and exhibit their knowledge and abilities, as decided by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission.
- SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, women, and PwD benefits are for Madhya Pradesh domicile candidates only.
- Candidates from other states will be treated as Unreserved.
- OBC (Creamy Layer) candidates of Madhya Pradesh will be treated as Unreserved, even if they select OBC in the form.
MP SET 2026 Application Fees
The application fee for the General Category is Rs 500 (with INR 40 as a Portal Fee). However, the fee for the reserved category varies. The candidates from the reserved category have to pay Rs. 250/-. Without the fee, candidates’ application forms will not be accepted. The fee will be online mode through NET Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card etc.

Steps to Apply for MP SET 2026
As instructed in the official notification, Candidates must keep the scanned file of their latest passport-size photograph and signature, ranging from 25 KB to 200 KB, which will be required while filling out the form. To apply for MP SET 2026, Candidates need to follow the steps.
- Visit the official website of the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission, https://mppsc.mp.gov.in/.
- On the Home Page click on the application link.
- The registration page will open. Fill in the required details such as name, date of birth, and email ID.
- Next Page candidates will get the application form. Enter all the required details such as personal, educational, and contact details. Provide and upload all the necessary documents.
- Candidates need to Pay the application fees through net banking, debit card, or credit card.
- Review the form and submit it, Once the form is submitted successfully, it can’t be withdrawn.
- Download the form for future reference.
MP SET 2026 Exam Pattern
Candidates who are going to apply online for MP SET 2026 must be aware of the MP SET Exam Pattern 2026 to know details regarding the exam pattern, topics to be asked in the exam, marking scheme etc.
