WBP Constable Education Qualification

• Passed Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.
• They must be able to speak, read and write the Bengali language. However, this provision will not apply to persons who are permanent residents of the hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts.
• For the applicant of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts, the provisions laid down in the West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961 will be applicable.

WBP Constable Recruitment 2024 Selection Process

The selection of Constable posts in West Bengal Police will be done based on a Written Examination followed by a Physical Measurement Test (PMT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Interviews which will be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board (WBPRB). The candidates have appeared in each stage to get shortlisted for the released vacancies of WB Police Constable.

• Stage 1: Written Examination: Applicants provisionally considered eligible for constable posts will be called for the Written Examination which consists of objective type multiple choice questions. In the written exam a total of 85 questions for 85 marks will be asked.
• Stage 2: Physical Measurement Test (PMT): Qualified candidates in the written exam will be called for the Physical Measurement Test. In the PMT test, the height, weight, and chest measurement (only for Male candidates) will be tested by using Electronic Machines.
• Stage 3: Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who qualify in PMT will be allowed to take part in the Physical Efficiency Test. PET is also qualifying in nature and includes the running event.
• Stage 4: Interviews: In the interview, candidates’ general awareness and suitability for public service will be assessed and candidates’ ability to speak, read, and write in Bengali/Nepali language will be tested in the interview.

WBP Constable Exam Pattern 2024

Applicants provisionally considered eligible will be called for the Written Examination which will be OMR based and in MCQ pattern. The question paper will be set in two languages (Bengali & Nepali) and the duration of the Written Examination will be of 1 hour. There would be 85 objective-type questions having multiple choice (four choices) of answers carrying 01 (one) mark each. For each incorrect answer, there will be a negative marking of ¼th of the total marks allocated to the question. The marks obtained in the Written Examination will be taken into account while preparing the merit list for selection. The Board will have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in the Written Examination for shortlisting candidates for the next stage of selection i.e., Physical Measurement Test (PMT).

WB Police Constable Physical Measurement Test

Qualified candidates in the written examination will be called to appear for the physical measurement test (PMT). The PMT candidate’s Physical standards (height, weight, chest (for male candidates)) will be tested. PMT is qualifying in nature no marks will be awarded for the PMT exam.

WBP Constable Physical Efficiency Test

Candidates who qualify for PMT will be allowed to take part in the physical efficiency test. PMT will be done through their performances as per the following parameters. PET is also qualifying in nature. All those candidates who qualified for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be called for an Interview exam.

WB Police Constable Salary 2024

Candidates who clear all stages of the WB Police Constable Recruitment exam and are appointed for the constable post will be offered a monthly salary of Rs. 23700. Apart from the monthly stipend candidates will be provided perks and allowances like dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical allowance, ration allowance, traveling allowance etc.
