Who is Eligibile to UPTET Certificate 2026?

UPTET Eligibility Certificate is an important document issued by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) to candidates who have successfully cleared the UPTET exam by scoring minimum qualifying marks as per their category. The certificate is issued separately for Paper 1and Paper 2 depending on the paper(s) qualified. It enables candidates to apply for teaching posts in government and private schools in Uttar Pradesh, but it does not guarantee a job.

Number of Attempts

There is no limit on the number of attempts for appearing in the UPTET Exam. Candidates can re–appear for the exam to improve their scores and eligibility for teaching posts.

What is UPTET Certificate Validity 2026?

The UPTET Certificate Validity refers to the duration for which the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) qualification remains applicable for teaching recruitment in the state. Once you qualify the exam, your eligibility certificate does not expire, and you can use it to apply for Primary and Upper Primary Teacher posts recruitment at any time in Uttar Pradesh whenever eligible vacancies are announced.

Old Rule – UPTET Certificate Validity – 5 Year

The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test certificate used to be valid for five years after the results were announced. This was the case for everyone who passed the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test before the rules were changed by the National Council for Teacher Education.

So what did this mean for people who took the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test? Well, they had to take the test after their certificate expired. It did not matter if they did well on the test the first time. The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test certificate would still become invalid after five years. This meant they had to take the test if they wanted to be able to teach at government and aided schools. They had to do this to stay eligible for these jobs. The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test was necessary for people who wanted to work as teachers.

New Rule – Lifetime UPTET Certificate Validity

This announcement was made by Ramesh Pokhariyal, the Indian Education Minister, who declared that the validity of the TET certificate is extended for a lifetime. The UPTET certificate is now valid forever. This change is in line with guidelines issued by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the apex body that governs teacher training standards across India.

Once candidates qualify the UPTET Exam, they need to submit the following documents to receive your UPTET Eligibility Certificate:
