UPTET Certificate Validity
UPTET (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) certificate validity has undergone an important change in recent years. Earlier, the certificate was valid for only 5 years from the date of result declaration. However, this 5-year validity rule is no longer applicable. The NCTE later revised the guidelines and introduced lifetime validity for UTET certificates, bringing significant relief to candidates.
Old Rule – UPTET Certificate Validity – 5 Year
Earlier, the validity of the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) certificate was only five years from the date of result declaration. This rule was applicable to all candidates who qualified the exam before the revision in guidelines by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
Under this old system, candidates were required to reappear for the UPTET exam once their certificate expired. Even if a candidate had already qualified with good marks, the certificate would become invalid after five years, making it mandatory to take the test again to remain eligible for teaching jobs in government and aided schools.
New Rule – Lifetime UPTET Certificate Validity
This announcement was made by Ramesh Pokhariyal, the Indian Education Minister, who declared that the validity of the TET certificate is extended for a lifetime. The UPTET certificate is now valid forever. This change is in line with guidelines issued by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), the apex body that governs teacher training standards across India.
