What is the UPSC ESE Exam 2027?

The UPSC ESE (Engineering Services Exam) is a national-level competitive exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruiting engineering graduates for various Group A and Group B Engineering Services in the Government of India. The exam is also known as the Indian Engineering Services (IES) Examination. Candidates with qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering are eligible to apply, subject to the eligibility criteria prescribed by UPSC.

Total Vacancies To Be Filled Under UPSC ESE Exam 2027

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a total of 480 vacancies for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering streams in various Central Government departments, including the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS), Central Water Engineering Service, Indian Defence Service of Engineers, and several other technical and administrative services.

Who Can Apply For UPSC ESE Exam 2027?

Only those candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification and age limit are eligible to apply online for UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2027.

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have obtained a degree in Engineering from a University (OR)
• Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers
  (India) (OR)
• Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and (OR)
•  Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and
  Telecommunication Engineers (India) (OR)
• Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the
  Aeronautical Society of India (OR)
• Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio
  Engineers, London held after November, 1959

Age Limit (01/01/2027)

Candidates for this examination must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than 2 nd January, 1997 and not later than 1st January, 2006.
