Eligibility Criteria for UP Special TET Exam 2026

For Paper I (Primary Level – Classes 1 to 5)

  • Senior Secondary (12th) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or
  • Senior Secondary with at least 45% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (as per NCTE norms), or
  • Graduation with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed degree.

For Paper II (Upper Primary Level – Classes 6 to 8)

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and a B.Ed degree, or
  • Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), or
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and a 1-year B.Ed (Special Education)

What is the UP Special TET Exam Pattern 2026?

  • Mode – Offline (pen and paper), OMR-based
  • Type of questions – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Number of questions – 150 per paper
  • Duration – 2.5 hours per paper
  • Negative marking – No negative marking
  • Qualifying marks – Generally 60% for the General category (with relaxation for reserved categories)
    Paper I Sections – Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies
    Paper II Sections – Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, and either Mathematics & Science or Social Studies (depending on subject specialization)
