• A 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) degree and at least 50% in Higher Secondary (or its equivalent); (or)
• A 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (under whatever name it may be known) and Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 45% of the possible points in line with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002;
• Graduation and a two-year elementary education diploma, under whatever name it may be called; and
• Successfully completed Paper I of the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET).
