In the SMC written examination, candidates have to appear for a single paper containing only objective-type questions. The exam pattern will vary depending on whether the post is technical or non-technical.

SMC Selection Process 2026

SMC will select candidates through a four-stage selection process, which includes a written exam, skill test, document verification, and medical exam. Candidates must qualify through each stage to get the final appointment. The selection stages have been discussed below:

1. Written exam: This is the first stage of selection, in which candidates’ knowledge is assessed based on the post.
2. Skill Test/Practical Test/Physical Test: Depending on the post applied for, the candidate has to undergo a skill-based test. This stage evaluates the candidate’s practical skills and job-specific abilities.
3. Document Verification: Candidates have to produce the original documents related to the educational qualification, identity proof, category certificate, and other eligibility criteria.
4. Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify for all the above stages have to appear for the medical examination round before the final appointment is issued.
