The Ministry of Railways has released the Railway Protection Force (Amendment) Rules, 2025, bringing significant modifications to the recruitment framework for the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF). These new rules were officially notified and came into effect upon their publication in the Gazette of India. The recruitment for Railway Protection Force (RPF) jobs will now be handled by SSC, just like other big police forces in India.
RPF Revised Recruitment Rules 2025 Out
With the revised RPF recruitment rules, officials have updated some recruitment norms for both Sub-Inspector (Executive) and Constable (Executive) posts. These new rules make RPF recruitment more uniform, fair, and aligned with India’s major security agencies. To apply for the constable post, you must be 18-23 years old and have passed the 10th class (high school), and for the Sub-Inspector post, you need to be between 20-28 years old and have a university degree.

Major Changes in RPF Recruitment 2025
The RPF Recruitment Rules 2025 introduce several significant reforms designed to modernise and standardise the recruitment process. The age limit for Constable (Executive) positions has been revised from 18–25 years to 18–23 years. Additionally, the minimum height requirement for male candidates has increased from 165 cm to 170 cm, and the chest measurement standards are now clearly defined as 80 cm when unexpanded and 85 cm when expanded.
While the educational qualification remains same, the selection authority has shifted from the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) to the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), aligning RPF recruitment with CAPF standards.
