Nobel Prize 2023 Winner for Peace
On 06th October 2023, Narges Mohammadi, an Iranian human rights activist was honored with the Nobel Prize in Peace 2023 for “her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all”. As per reports, Narges Mohammadi faced 13 arrests, 5 convictions, 31 years in prison, and 154 lashes.

Jon Olav Fosse has been honoured with the Nobel Prize 2023 in Literature for “his innovative plays and prose which give voice to the unsayable”. Every year, the Nobel Prize in Literature, also known as the Swedish literature prize, is given to a writer from any country who has produced exceptional work in the field of literature with an idealistic direction. This is according to the will of Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel.

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine is awarded to individuals or groups of researchers who have made significant advancements in understanding the human body, diseases, and medical treatments. Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman have won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2023 “for their discoveries concerning nucleoside base modifications that enabled the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19”.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2023 has been awarded to Moungi Bawendi, Louis Brus and Alexei Ekimov “for the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots.” Independently of each other, Ekimov and Brus succeeded in creating quantum dots, and Bawendi revolutionised chemical production. The prize rewards the discovery and development of quantum dots, nanoparticles whose properties are determined by their size.
