JoSAA Counselling 2026 Registration Starts, Choice Filling Link Active

The JoSAA 2026 counselling application form and choice filling link has been activated on 2nd June 2026. Candidates need to complete their registration to be able to access the choice-filling process. Registration and choice-filling links will be available only once and not in every round. The Round 1 seat allotment result will be released on 13th June 2026.

What is JoSAA Counselling 2026?

Joint Seat Allocation Authority It is the centralised admission process conducted by Ministry of Education, Government of India. JoSAA, Eligible candidates get admission into undergraduate engineering programs (B.E./B.Tech) at IITs, NITs, IIITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) in India.

JoSAA Counselling 2026 Overview

Eligible candidates are those who have qualified JEE Main 2026 and/or JEE Advanced 2026. Admission to IITs and IISc is through JEE Advanced ranks, whereas NITs, IIITs, IIEST Shibpur and GFTIs consider JEE Main ranks for admission.

What is the Eligibility Criteria?

  1. Admission to NITs, IIITs, IIEST and GFTIs requires a valid JEE Main 2026 rank.
  2. For admission to IITs and IISc, a valid JEE Advanced 2026 rank is mandatory.
  3. Should have passed 12th (10+2) or equivalent with physics, chemistry and mathematics.
  4. Must have secured at least 75% marks in Class 12 (or 65% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) or be in the top 20 percentile in their board.
  5. Candidates appearing in Class 12 in 2026 can appear provisionally also.

How to Register & Fill Choices?– Step by Step

  1. Visit the official portal of JoSAA at josaa.nic.in and click on “New Candidate Registration”.
  2. Login using your JEE Main application number and password (or JEE Advanced credentials if you’re applying for IITs).
  3. Use the OTP sent to your registered mobile number to verify your identity. Check your personal details, category and rank in the screen.
  4. Select your preferred institute-course combinations with the ‘Add’ button and set the preference order.
  5. You can edit and move around your choices as many times as you want before the deadline. save your list after each session
  6. Lock your choices by 5 PM on June 11. If you don’t lock it manually, the system will automatically lock your last saved order.
  7. Upload required documents and pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) in advance to avoid any last minute problems after seat allotment.

FAQs

Can I register for JoSAA in later rounds?

No. The JoSAA registration and choice-filling window is open only once – from June 2 to June 11. After this window closes, you cannot register again in subsequent rounds.

How many rounds of seat allotment will JoSAA 2026 have?

JoSAA 2026 will have 5 rounds of seat allotment. Round 5 (July 21, 2026) is the final round for IITs and IISc. After all rounds, remaining seats are allocated through CSAB counselling.

Is JoSAA registration free?

Yes, there is no fee for JoSAA registration. However, after seat allotment, candidates must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) of ₹30,000 (General) or ₹15,000 (SC/ST/PwD) to confirm their seat.
